I don't think we should be discussing the disposal of blocked phones on the forum, even if it is none of the members involved fault but once the handset has been returned I am sure someone will contact you
I think the photos Jon did you must have been a bit iffy because when I got it off him it was in excellent condition (I still have the photos here I took from when I sold it to Tom) .. hopefully it is still the same

Firstly I would like to say a very big 'thank you' to MikeP. His attitude towards this entire affair has been first class! I know a lot of people would have just chosen to turn a blind eye (like those lower down the chain) and leave me out of pocket. I would also like to extend my thanks to voda_jon now that he has also agreed to help.
What upsets and angers me though is that this phone never seems to have left the 'esato community' and someone has deliberately commited fraud knowing full well they are leaving other members out of pocket for their own gain. I thoroughly hope that this person gets what they deserve and is scammed themselves at some point in the future.
I have requested the phone be returned to me by ZootZoot to which he has agreed. The photos I sent to Yasman are exactly representative of how I recieved the phone and as a result the condition it was in when ZootZoot recieved it (I never used the phone as I mistakenly bought the wrong model - I needed the 3g version) So the condition I recieve the returned phone in can be compared to these photos.
Regards,
Tom

mybe the owner lost his sim card and the operator blocked the handset by mistake because that happened to me one time when i lost my phone they place a sim and phone bar but barred the phone than came with the contract instead of the phone i was using at the time. my should try to contact the original owner as someone post they have his contact details. |

Si Egdell is a fraudster, I've had dealings with him in the past, think I may have been the first to have problems with one of his deals, I for one hope he gets what he deserves!
Good on you Mike, you're a decent bloke for the actions you are taking over this. It's such a shame that the minority of worthless wastes of skin scum like Si spoil things for everyone else.

Well since ZootZoot posted the last message on the 31st the last thing I heard heard from Tom was :

Hi Mike,
Sorry I have been away for a few days. As soon as I get my phone on charge I will send you over some photos.
Again apologies for taking a while to reply.
Tom.
This was after I asked for some up to date photos of the phone a week or so previously and since then I have heard nothing. I am moving to Spain tomorrow (Monday 27th) which was made perfectly clear and will have no phone line or internet for quite a while I would imagine so I am posting this as there is nothing I can do about it now.
As far as I am concerned this situation could have been sorted out at the very beginning had everyone got their finger out and made the phone available but it seems there is no hurry so I am presuming the matter has been settled.
Anyway, I am packing up my computer and bits this morning and I will be back whenever, when I do I do not want to see some long thread about me backing out of helping out in this sorry saga.
Cheers.

I am not involved in this issue, but have read it with interest. I have never bought a phone from here but have sold three I think. I have also bought and sold many phones on Ebay, luckily I have never been caught out with a blocked phone or sold one that was later blocked afaik.
I can see from this thread that there are quite a few people who are quite willing to just walk away and say "it's not my problem". But I can tell that MikeP isn't one of those and seems to want to help get it all sorted, it's not his fault if other people don't want to move their arses.
Good luck with the move MikeP and hope to see you back on here very soon. And I also hope that this issue with the blocked phone(s) gets sorted with a satisfactory conclusion for all.

Andy, he also said he would not have internet access for perhaps a month as it had to be arranged. Might go into an internet cafe or something though.... You can't keep old dogs away!! It's an addiction.

Guy's, everything in Zootzoot's post above 'Tom', is Tom's pm to Andy........
....it's just not quoted very well. It was Zootzoot who Tom wished a good holiday, he's only just returned after 3-odd weeks, to find Tom ignoring him(hence the 'I don't know what to do' last line).....
I'm also hoping this event can be resolved!

Right I feel that I need to clarify a few points that have been made in this thread - as some of the responses seem to imply that I am in some form to blame for this mess!
After coming to an agreement with Mike.P I arranged for ZootZoot to return the blocked phone to myself. I asked ZootZoot to do this on the 30/07/07 - unfortunately he was away on holiday and so the phone was posted on the 14/08/07. I contacted Mike.P on the 15/08/07 to inform him I had received the phone at which point he asked if I could provide photos of it. Mike.P also informed me he was leaving for Spain in a week's time. I also let ZootZoot know that the phone had arrived. Unfortunately at this point things went hectic at work and I found myself here there and everywhere due to a problem with one of my projects - and to cut to the chase I did not get a chance to provide Mike.P with the photos or give ZootZoot an update untill the 28/08/07 - at which point I apologised for my lack of response - but there really was little I could do. But it is worth noting that this was a period of 12 days not three weeks like some people are saying. Furthermore I was not 'IGNORING' anyone - I simply was not able to reply for a small period. I have not heard from Mike.P since sending him the photos - but in fairness to him he said in his post above he would not be able to reply for a while. I am in the mean time attempting to sort this issue myself rather than waiting for Mike.P so that I ZootZoot can get his money ASAP.
Now what I find annoying is that I have been scammed just as much as ZootZoot - I bought this phone for £160 from Mike.P never used it because it wasn't the 3g version I was after (my mistake I know) then had an agreed sale with a member from this board which they never paid for and meant I was left waiting around for about a month and a half while the phone lost value, until I eventually sold it to ZootZoot for £120 for a quick sale. Now I am going to have to make up the difference between whatever I get for the phone and what ZootZoot paid me. So I loose £40 because another member messed me around and probably another £30 because I have been scammed. ZootZoot looses nothing - which I don't have a problem with - but he could at least show some patience while I get it all sorted.
On top of this ZootZoot lodged a complaint with paypal (the method he paid me) as soon as he realised the phone was blocked before I had even had a chance to respond to his original message telling me the phone was blocked. So I am to be honest rather pissed off with the whole situation, and ultimately I am the one who is going to loose out. But I am still doing the right thing and making sure ZootZoot gets his money - when I know a lot of other members would have just washed their hands of this whole thing. But I do sometimes wonder why I bother
