@mib1800, no, this was a Kingston andhad no mention that it was SDHC

@voda_jon, the pc (both my vaio with windows vista and a dell with windows XP) had no trouble reading and writing to the card as I tested that first before trying in the phone. Both showed the correct capacity and were able to store close to 4gb.

it was only after I formatted in phone that both pc's could only see that the memory card was 120mb and nothing I have tried so far seems able to change that.

@jcwhite_uk, I guess the step between 2gb and 4gb SD is similar to the step from 128mb duo to 256mb+ pro duo, it just took SD alot longer to reach this technical step.

I've posted on my-symbian a week or two ago a bit of research I did into SDHC and there are many examples of manufacturers such as pentax providing firmware updates for SDHC compatibility on some of their camera models that date back to 2004 (see here and here for example). Also the SDHC driver can be taken out of the palm treo 680 and put into the 700 (see here)

There are other examples of this suggesting that all the N95 needs is a firmware update.

well i am looking forward to the update! (if we ever get one)

i'm sure Nokia wont hold people back from getting the most from there flagship model, well at least i hope so!

with regards to your new 120Mb SD Micro, have you tried an active partition recovery tool? [addsig]

Have you sorted it yet? It sounds like the card was originally formated in 64k clusters and the phone formated into 2k clusters but failed to alter the number of clusters. With Partition Magic 8 you should be able to change the size back to 64k.

there is some hope already if you haven't seen this Sandisk N95 compatibility page, though that is by no means any kind of confirmation...
