Does it say literally 'insert sim' or 'insert correct sim card'?

I'm also wondering, especially if it says 'insert sim' whether it's a botched unlock job?

Isn't this some kind of call restriction ?
Just a quick thought, don't have much time, to look into it, dressing up for Easter dinner with the in-laws .

To deactivate these restrictions, you need a password, though. Default is 0000.

the icon is probably a red herring as it is the divert icon (as mentioned previously) and that is a network feature. even if the number was diverted you should still be able to make outgoing calls

it does sound like some kind of sim lock problem

You go to Calls-> Restrict Calls->, then you can select Activate or Deactivate.
Have second thoughts about the password now, dunno how this is in the UK, but I believe you'll get this particular password from your provider, so this wouldn't be of any help after all.

But maybe you can see in this menu, whether this is the problem ?

edit: Seeing the icons in masseurs post now, so this has to do with diverted calls, not restriction.

Or maybe a lock the owner has put on the phone, for use with one simcard only ?

right, divert calls have been deactivated, master reset performed too but that little red icon is still there, can this be a sim card problem?
i have not tried another t mobile sim yet as i don't have one, can that be the problem?

This is confusing

anyways PMs replied, well almost all of them

I had this icon with my W880i... but I put it down to a very very old sim that I used to use the features instead of putting in my current simcard...
It did however work with my current sim

Does the Sim make calls in other phones?

Sorry... But you can use this a Bump

You could try reflashing the phone, that will reset all settings to default and delete any content on the phone, try an update via SEUS, and if that doesn't work a reflash (and perhaps debrand at the same time!) via Wotan. If all else fails I could try flashing it for you with my new found software skills!

As it's saying 'insert correct sim card' when you try to insert an O2 sim it must be locked to T-Mobile.
