ok arakin I didn't know that, but theres something I do know...
the spv has pocket pc goto any pocket pc site and see how many apps, games and utils there are out for this platform already.
I know the symbian os is meant to be nice and friendly for developers etc but the fact of the matter is, no one can compete with microsoft when it comes to making an os and selling bucket loads of copies.
what operating system is the majority of the world running? who made that operating system? nuff said.
Also one more thing DOOM only takes up 420k on the spv shouldn't eat into my 128mb sd card too much then |

I don't agree at all...
There are not many Microsoft SmartPhone apps out there yet and you cannot run PocketPc sw directly on it. Plus there are not many Microsoft SmartPhones out there and the only one currently available is for Orange network only... E.g. 7650 is available for all 1800/900 MHz GSM networks there are and the user base should be already over one million also the P800 will be sold by multiple operators.
The operator lock approach won't work very long - e.g. in Finland you cannot sell simlocked phones - it's illegal to tie the phones&sim sells because it hampers competition -> Microsoft has no market in Finland.
Also because MS is only working with operators and majority of cell phone manufacturers have chosen Symbian it is currently loosing the OS battle bigtime.
If you want to make SW for smartphones you'd be better of choosing Symbian because the user base is so large already and other manufacturers are coming with Symbian OS phones that work on multioperator environment. It does not matter which SW you are running on your PC - the phone market is totally different area.
The PC world semantics do not directly apply here.
There are lot more apps for Symbian OS - a _lot_ more than for SmartPhone - etc. IRC/Jabber clients/Webviewer/Video recorder/RealOne player. Check:

Also your Doom in 420kB is not possible (and where can I download it?) - you have not calculated the doom data files into that (doom.wad etc.). If I calculate only the Symbian OS Doom client that is only 334kB .
