generally se phones have the edge right now.. a better music application, better intergration with the phone (hardkeys etcc) a2dp with most as well...
out of the box the headphones are better too...
hsving said that i think quality wise it's about equal..se's are fuller in sound, nokia lack the umph... se handles highe bitrates and mp4's a bit better..
the n91 produces top notch music quality but that is the only nokia that does currently...meanwhile the w950i does equally as well... |

I'd say, on the basis of my past experience, and most of you'd agree to it, that 1.SE makes the best ever music phones and has good display. 2.Nokia has the easiest ui. 3.Samsung has the best display.

disagreed, Nokia has the best display. Come on, N80, N90, all E series have more than QVGA and some have 16m. |

I'm projecting a generalised picture not particular. Please note that my views are valid when you consider brands on the whole, not singling out a few phones.

@Boba,
Sorry i have to disagree i think the phones i have both play Music at much more than just an acceptable level and as i said before with a decent set of Headphones are very impressive.
@Dragon Eye
Again i have to disagree with you on this i had a M600 with HBH-DS970 and on returning to my N93 with the AD-46 and my Sony headphones the improvement in richness and sound separation was very noticeable to me. But as always personal preference will always play a big part in what one considers better or the best.

In any case, this thread does specify music quality in particular doesn't it? How did that change to display quality? Haha... Anyway, do any of the Nokia phones have the hissing problem? Maybe the hissing doesn't affect the overall music quality, but it is a flaw, isn't it? |

first, you have to compare a2dp to a2dp.. second you should use the same song (file bitrate etc..), and headphones to do an accurate comparion.. that's how i test music in phones...otherwise you're test is skewed.
and third the m600i is a bad example.. i've had 3 of them and they don't sound as nice as my k790i or w850i. but the w950i i tried had fantastic sound on par with the n91.. (which is nokia's BEST music phone in terms of quality)

Hi Dragon Eye,
Well that explains a lot then re the M600 but we can't really be expected to have tried every phone in a manufacturers range now can we. As for comparing Stereo over Bluetooth the only thing i can compare is the M600 to my 8800 SE and the Nokia due to lack of storage space is encoded at the lowest rate possible all the others where at the highest rate possible. I still don't think it is possible to get a definitive answer only what each prefers.

i try to play with a new phone every week or so... (yes i have a serious problem lol) it may be unrealistic to expect everyone to test every phone.. but at the same time.. indicating nokia sound is better based on 1 model is just as flawed
the OP asked a very general question.. and to give a very general answer i'd say SE has an overall edge.. but obviously ALL manufactruers have devices that may beat others.. but overall IMO SE seems to be leading the pack..
