From my SE experience (P910, M600 & K800) I would say SE because they have the backing (and considerable experience) of Sony and their Walkman legacy.
I also think that the media players on the Walkman branded phones spank the pants off of the Nokia (here I am speaking from experience on the 6600 and a few N-series phones -- I have not tried the phones that Nokia brands that are "music friendly").
With the right headphones, sound quality is amazing from my K800

as for me, Nokia N91 has the best sound quality as per experience.
eventhough the packaged headphones looks cheap, the sound quality was never compromised.
try one yourself and you'll hear the difference!

There is only a minor difference and its biased towards SE. The fact is, nokia didnt even advertise their product as a music phone yet it comes pretty darn close the W series. |

I think Nokia N91 is the flagship of its Express Music Phones.

Does not!
The N91 sounds like a would in the music folder, but when listening to music in the media player on a K750 to be specific, it kills the N91!!

i was very pleased with e50, e60, 6233 sound quality too, compared to w branded se models. i dont need hifi on the streets, so not a must for me to take se w fones.

Sorry but i gotta say it, SE is the clear winner, what does nokia know bout music phones? The Walkman line gives SE a clear advantage, maybe the iphone will give SE competition but when it comes to music phones, SE is the winner there, hands down.

Hi all,
I really don't think this is that easy to answer there are to many variables to take into account. The first and most important IMO is the Headphones as this is the weakest link in the whole set up. A decent set of headphones will IMO make an enormous amount of difference to the quality of the listening experience. As will the original Music source and how it is then encoded and then like most things personal preference to sound will effect the end users perception of what it he likes best.
Personally i think most mid to high range phones are more than able to give good results, what anyone prefers or chooses is just what is right for them or they prefer. I listen to Music from 2 devices and although both are encoded at different rates and one is streamed in stereo over Bluetooth both sound great to me.
