If your phone is liquid then how is that any fault of cpw. Its your fault.

Do u think the engineer is lying?? why would he/she lie??

take my advice and look after your phone in future!! Even if u buy your phone from the link they will only send u up to cpw when your phone goes wrong.

regards

Carphone,
how is it the fault of the customer if they've never used their phone in wet conditions nor imersed it in water.

as for the Engineer having a reason to lie, they dont need one, they're just talking sh**.

if you took 10 T68's off the shelf and sent them to CPWH to be inspected or even SE themselves, how many would be returned as having water damage? ...thats what you need to ask yourself.

when you bought your phone did it come with a guarantee that the inside had not been exposed to damp conditions...no, you expected it was fine, just like you expected them to not talk sh** in your ears when you sent it to be fixed.

darhys,
all i can say is complain, complain and complain again...dont let them mug you off mate, its your money thats being spent...if you know for a fact that your phone has never been exposed to wet conditions then you need to make some noise in the shop ...end of story and we'll soon see how quickly you get a new handset vs. listening to the bullsh** they're talking and spending the same money again...personally i've had the exact same thing said to me before about Nokia#s & Ericsson's and my argument is that as a consumer my phone is used under normal conditions and never exposed to water, therefore any corrosion on the inside of my handset is a result of poor workmanship and bad design on the part of the manufacturer, whoever they may be...so replace my handset, now thank you.

lol, i see where u are comming from. BUT

the engineers follow the warranty guidlines set by the manufactures, so your argument is with SE not a cpw engineer or any engineer for that matter.

I am a sales rep at a cpw repair centre and as u can imagine i have had many interesting confrontations regarding liquid phones. In my shop as soon as the engineer has deemed a unit Beyond Economical repair, the customers NEVER gets there phone repaired or replaced.

In fact we are more than happy to show the customers the pcb board and exactly where the corrosion/liquid is. Not some rubbish picture but the real thing.

Often customers ask us to send the unit direct to the manufactures for a 2nd opinion and it always comes back exactly the same.

It is a very interesting topic though, and i do think that some units that are deemed BER to easily, but as i said these are the manufacturers guidlines.

oh an by the way carphone,, i have a friend that runs a nokia service center and after they opened it they told me that they could find any liquid damage.....

another point

the fone is supposadly a sealed unit so how does the liquid get in the fone unless fully sumerged ie: dropped in the bath or down the bog....

i think this is gonna be a long dispute

the same way dust or condensation gets into your watch is how it gets into a phone, its down to quality of manufacturing or how it's sealed....or in the case of most phones, design flaw that doesnt take into account damp conditions.

saying a phone has water damage & was caused by the customer immersing it in water is simply bad customer service...if the pcb board or whatever its called wasn't so cheap it wouldn't have corroded.

being vague as to how the water damage was caused is simply lack of expertise on the part of the engineers, who are really only following guidelines like sheep.

proving it was the customer who caused it and it did not exist upon purchase is simply a way of disregarding a high percentage of phones that are brought back by customers and when this rule is challenged in the proper way, most shops will have no choice but to replace the handset.

the quality of most GSM handsets these days is sh** compared to that of the Analog mobiles made a few years back.

getting your handset replaced with a new unit was unheard of, nowadays its all about if it fits into a specific criteria you can have it replaced.

the truth is if you complain enough you will get it replaced, if you dont complain you will be treated like any fool and lose your money.

as for the argument being against CPWH, it could be any reseller, they're all the same...if 3 fools are selling phones, just because one treats you bad doesnt make the other 2 any less a fool.

IF you post your phone to celestica don't expect to see it for at least 6 weeks! I sent my old T68 off and it took 7 weeks to come back and I've heard of others taking 12 weeks! So good luck.

Most repair centre are as bad as each other. But yes celistica have a particularly bad rep for turn around times.

after 6 weeks it will come back beyond economical repair anyway.

lol

but hey its your phone.

ok i took the phone to the cpw, and they said it was water damage, i then sent it to celestica and today i recieved a brand new t68, with joystick count under 10 when tested, and guess what! the letter said nothing about water damage at all, although that is what i mentioned in my letter to them, so what do i think of cpw who said it was water damage? well...........and how many of you stuck up for cpw and said that they have nothing to lose by condemning a phone.

maybe the engineer hadn't been laid for a while and was in a bad mood.
no organisation can get to the size cpw has with consistently bad customer care. every organisation has its problem people, and you may have encountered one.
the sunday mirror last sunday exposed a cpw manager who was buying phones he knew to be stolen. they also exposed employees from the link doing exactly the same thing. no company can get it right all the time, but a good one will try to put right its mistakes. try e-mailling charles dunstone (the big boss of cpw) direct ( cdunstone@cpw.co.uk )and let him know your problem. be polite about it and you may be pleasantly surprised. lay into him and you'll be ignored. and before you say it, no, i don't work for cpw.
they don't make them like they used to
