Well, that's deleted in a reset as well. One thing tho, you can't delete the two standard MMS templates. The Blank one and the Recording. So those'll take up 111 K. At least on a T300.

If you do this solution I thought of that Closey describes above you must be aware of that you really dont want to use SE pre-installed images. Because you make them unavaliable you cannot use them until you do a total reset again.

This tip assumes that you want to get rid of all pre-installed pictures and use your own gallery, or use the memory for other things!

My MMS-Template folder uses 111Kb now, after several total resets. How much does your MMS-Tamplate folders use? Would be nice to compare.

If you sum all Kb both free and used under memory status how much do you get? I have total 858Kb?

You can save all things via IR except the games and settings. You must do those Wap-settings again.

Uploaded ringtones can be sent to a computer via IR and be saved om the harddisk so you can beam them back after your total reset.

Here is the link to a forum where all games are downloadable to your computer (.mpn files) and then you just have to IR those games to your phone

Hey DE.. you actually could use the original SonyEricsson pictures after a reset if you have them saved. Just transfer them to the phone and they'll be saved like regular pictures. Sure, they'll take up some space, but this time if you remove them it will give you the free space back as well.

That is correct my friend!

But you do not use the pre-installed, you use your own pics and they can be whatever you want

I have mailed SE new Q about our problem, no answer yet.

Did any of you managed to get the 111Kb in MMS Templates issue resolved?

Has any of you got the latest firmware? Mine is R1C001 and I have the memory problem after master reset that my MMS templates directory is empty but it still takes up 111KB of space.

I have tried to call SonyEricsson's customer service and they were TOTALLY useless. They are a bunch of idiots who can only handle people who can't turn their phone on, but nothing of this magnitude. They told me that my phone must be defective and try to return it to the store I have bought it from. I know that this is a problem affecting ALL T300 phones not just mine so there is absolutely no point in going back to the store and getting another, defective, unit. The only benefit would be that I would at least have my MMS templates back in my phone.

Here is the message that I have sent them:

Hi,

Your sonyericsson mobile phone on-line support form does not work at all (the Java script has some kind of problems and won't let me submit, the same goes for your sonyericsson.com on-line help section, it's broken too) so I hope that I am finding the right person with my request. If you're not the right person please forward my e-mail to the proper department so it can be resolved as soon as possible since the U.S. customer service department is absolutely useless just as your website.....
Thanks!

I have a SonyEricsson T300 and my problem relates to "stolen" memory by non-existing MMS templates. My phone originally came with several MMS templates preinstalled. However after completing a Master Reset on the phone they were gone. If they would be completely gone it would not bother me much, however they actually still occupy 111KB of memory in the phone with no access to them what-so-ever. If I want to download the same templates again they take up even more space on top of the 111KB.
I have opened a case with SE (case ID 10667838) and they told me to return the phone to the point of sale (T-mobile store) for a return as it is probably a defective unit. The lady I have talked with (Sandra) also asked me why I did a master reset. If it is known that a master reset causes problems why is there such an option available? You should stop blaming your customers for your bugs for sure!

Also, MANY other people experience the same issue, so this is not an isolated incident and I think it would be a waste of resources to make T-mobile replace my defective phone with another defective one. I would either like to:
a) have my MMS templates back after the master reset or
b) have them completely wiped out making memory available for other things.

This is not acceptable to waste memory that was in great shortage to start with!

Feel free to contact me should you need more information!

My Firmware version is:
R1C001
prgCXC125636

LCD SW Versions
Test:200109110
Current:200109110

Customization MS
CDA102086/8 R3A

This problem seems to affect other users in other countries with other customization firmware as well so it is not dependent on localization apparently.

Also please let me know if there is a firmware fix for the problem (being an engineer I am 100% sure this is a firmware problem that needs to be resolved ASAP) and inform me about the closest Sony Ericsson repair center that would be able to complete my firmware upgrade the shortest time as I'd hate to be without a phone.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I was thought I should try to free some memory the way you described, but I have one question.

If you do a Master Reset, I know all settings will dissapear, but how about the phone book?
It's not that funny to enter all names again. I have all names saved in the phone.

I got an answer regarding the memory issue from SE. The answer was "Strange, there must be a software problem with your phone. Please bring it to a reseller".

This makes me wonder, is there anyone out there with a phone that releases the memory when deleting for example the melody Carmen?

Otherwise there must be some kind of misunderstanding at SE

i tried deleting Carmen as well, that didn't release any memory. And as everyone else experienced here, deleting any pictures didn't release any memory either.

After a master-reset, my MMS Templates memory status is now at 139Kb!!!

I also have the R1C001 firmware.
