But SE is the only manufacturer that goes out its way to set aside space for the branding. Other manufacturers just let the networks paint on a little logo or something, but SE put stickers, plastic indents etc.

Personally I prefer the SE way to deal with any service provider logotypes, with a preallocated branding area for that purpose. The location of the branding area is quite obviously taken into account when SE designs a mobile phone.

I have a motorola mobile phone at work (E770), provided by my employer, and that's vodafone branded, with voda's ugly red icons and an ugly vodafone live label above the right softkey. Ironically, vodafone does not exist in sweden anymore, it's baught by Telenor. Further, for cost reduction reasons, the GPRS and 3G abilities are not enabled on the SIM card for that phone, so the right softkey is completely useless. If the 3G and GPRS were enabled, and it had'nt bee vodafone branded, it would have been a quite nice phone (not as good as my k800 though). It has the same screen resolution as a k700, a VGA camera and place for a 512 MB micro-SD memory card, and additional 64 MB internal memory.
I have fond software at a motomodder's web site to get rid of some vodafone images and branding stuff, but I haven't found out how to get rid of the vodafone startup image that appears before it asks for the PIN code.
