When will SE change charger connector? |

Hmm. I've never experienced this problem. Since I owned a T28, right upto this K750 - no issues with the connector. What are you guys doing with your handsets, geez? I do prefer the old style charger, however. Much more rock solid.

It was with regards to your comment saying that the SE connector is more secure than Nokia.
So i simply put it to u that if u do dangle it as u described, the SE will not show a charging status cos of the poorly design contacts while the Nokia will still be charging.
@ neonismo
For myself, i have not abused/mistreated my phones in anyway. Always removed the connector the right way by tilting first. It's just a poor design i guess. Tho the fact that u have not experienced any such problems after so long really puts me to envy.
Not to take offence, but all the people/friends i know personally who have used or are using SE phones complain to me about the same problem when i ask them about it. Some even within 3 months of buying use.
Yes i did mean ALL of them, not some. |

As I wrote in an earlier post: I have never experienced any kind of problems concerning the charger connectors on any Ericsson or Sony Ericsson phone.
So it seems to be quite individual, wich is not remarcable in any way. There are certainly minor differences between different production batches. And there are certainly major differences between different users.

@x2 doesnt show charging status? sorry, i am might be stupid, but i do see on both devices when its charging... next to it, se one is more advanced ( thx to /// ) cos i can check the actual status of the batt, on nokia the bars are moving constantly, so its impossible to say, what level in the batt on.

I think that x2x3x2 simply means that there is a (potential) connection problem (symptom: the phone doesn't charge) in the SE mobile phones that is not present in the Nokia mobile phones.
I might be wrong on this one, but that's how I interpret x2x3x2.

I'm very careful with all my phones, though admittedly a lot of them are secondhand, though it's often SEs rather than nokias that have charging problems, or at least requiring me to waggle and fiddle with the connector. I don't think either connector is as reliable as some other manufacturer's charging ports/charger sockets, and it does seem to be SEs that I have most problems with.
@boba, I think what x2 is trying to say is that if you dangle a and a Nokia upside down whilst charging, the Nokia would continue to charge whilst the would probably stop charging because of the more flimsy connection - not that I would do that with any phone whilst it was charging, I think it's just a hypothetical situation!

Relax bro, im not saying u are stupid or anything like that.
Firstly there's no point is saying that a particular phone make or model can hang via it's charging cable unless u have some other purpose to do so, such as using it as a primitive swinging weapon.
Secondly, wouldn't it be more usefull is to show that the charging connector still performs it intended use and purpose? In this case charging the phone.
What i am trying to put across to u is that if u try dangling the phones via their charging cables, which according to u implied that SE connector is better, i assure u that the SE will lose contact and will not charge while the Nokia one will continue charging.
This is because the SE connector may still be connected to the phone via the 2 plastic progs, but the metal charging contacts themselves will not.

I really hope they would.
I really like everything about SE phones, from their usability of interface, easy customisation of themes and no hassle file transfers from PC to phone be via BT or IR.
On a side note, im from Singapore. Most of the people who have never had charging connector issues are usually from the EU part of the world.
Could it be perhaps that SE uses slightly different compound mixtures for their materials that would cause the fore-mentioned problems?
For example, the K500 which I've used has a sort of matte finish on the case plastic. Another K500 from Phillipines I've seen had a very smooth shiny finish on it. Much like the texture on the inner side of my battery cover. |

i experience the same problem as the original poster. I know what you exactly mean. i have encountered that with my k700 and the k750 especially when the airconditioning in the room is on. the socket locks well but the phone does not or stops charging. I have also experienced this with the car charger. I had to keep moving the socket that connects to the phone till the charging message appears. And yes it sometimes stops charging... |

I've never had a problem with any of my Sony Ericsson phones - Orange T68ie, T-Mobile T630i, T-Mobile D750i, T-Mobile K800i. (Unlike the old Sony J70e which was a pain to charge!)
One thing is I've always used a dock at home, and only use the cable directly when i'm away from home or (in the case of the T68ie and D750i, waiting for the dock to be delivered). It's not exactly been well treated - the number of times my headphone connector had stopped it (D750i/K800i) hitting the deck is absured - not once has it actually fell off the cable and hit the deck. My USB cables are equally solid. |

the most annoying part of the 'connect-disconnect' issue is when the phone 'hangs' because there are just too many 'optimized charging' dialog boxes that were displayed for every 'disconnect-connect' event. i'm not sure if this is experienced by everyone, but i'm really pissed off when this happens...
