Will SE release another antenna/flip phone? |

....Yeah, I hope so. Clam-shell phones are the way of the future! The growing need for bigger screens in small devices will create the need for this form factor. I predict that in two years all high-end cellphones will be made this way.

I don't see how flip-phones will succeed when more and more normal phones have good screens and attractive design (T68, 7210, etc)
I have not seen one attractive design of a flip-phone yet; except for this one. |

Well, they might have OK screens for now, but they are too small to fit into tomorrows standards. I'm quite positive that the clam-shell/flip design is the way of the future when it comes to mobile phones.

...And if you don't think clam-shell/flip phones will have attractive designs, take a look at the japanese market. Lots of great-looking handsets out there! And personally I think my Samsung S100 is the best-looking phone I've ever laid my hands on!!!

the screens on the T68 and 7210 are tiny - which is fine for phone functions - but limiting for the multimedia functions that phones are evolving toward.
I think Raven is right, in 2 years time flip phones will be very popular.
PS
What is the difference between the flip phone on your link and any other flip phone?

One of the things I don't like about flip-phones is that you can't see the screen when it's closed. The tiny monochrome displays most new flips have on the outside look kinda cheap/ugly to me. What I would like to see is a flip-phone that closes the other way around. I think that would be really cool.

Hmmm....Yeah, a flip-phone that goes all the way around... That way you could choose to close the phone to protect the screen, leave it comletely open to quicly see who's calling/smsing/mmsing/etc, or meet halfway to make a call!
Great idea!!

I can understand the flip but not the antenna since it took a long time to get rid of them

If I compare the reception on my Ericsson T39m and on my Sony Ericsson antennaless T200, I have to admit the antenna phone (T39) still beats the new antennaless phones... Well, anyway Sony Ericsson is not Ericsson, of course... |

hold your horses... are we talking flip phone or a clamshell, these are two different concepts in my opinion.. as far as clamshel or folder type phones go, i guess they will always be there, but flip like the t28 and t39 i believe those are gone for good....

nokias only flip phone is the 6500 i guess. I also think most of the future phones will be bigger and have antennas like the upcoming 6650 3g phone...and i wud really like to see a next gen sony ericsson flip phone because it would look to me really as a communication device. |

this whole rotating thing makes it look too fragile, it might be not durable at all, you will rotate to the point when it falls of or something,... and i think this is an LG, if it is an LG ---> nuf said...

shawnmccall9, same concept, thanks for the pic! I agree though that it looks a bit fragile, and for some reason I just prefer the "standard" or "candybar" format. Don't know why, I just do...
