Is the K610 as durable as the w800 then?

The k610 review said "the phone is made all in plastic"
So i thought that the w800 (feels like metal) where made of metal frame

They're just plastic coated with metal-like texture. That's very common nowadays. I think using real metal on the phone's casing will make the phones a bit expensive and the signal reception a bit weaker. Also, usually tough metals are heavy. Aluminum is light but it's only almost as tough as plastic.
resistance is futile.

Have you ever held a W800? It feels nothing like metallic.

If you find some guides on taking the W800/K750 apart, you will see where the colour gives way to sheer... plastic!

Remove your phone's batter and you'll see it's clearly plastic.

It really depends on the quality of the plastic used as well. I don't mind a plastic phone, but it has to look and feel good in the hand. If it just feels like a lightweight plastic toy, then it probably won't last. Metal or even plastic coated with a metallic finish (especially the T610) is really classy and adds to the phone's durability and luxuriousness. The T610's build quality was pretty good as well. SE's high end should all have metal. The P990 is pretty poor in this aspect.

I don't know, metal can be pretty bad as well. I know the T610 I see these days have aged badly - the metal is all dented, bent and scratched, whereas plastic from the same age has held up much better.

Agree, i've heard that the k610 feels quite solid and not like a plastic toy. I hope they have used quality plastic in this one. The w900 feels OK too.

If you ask me plastic is better than metal. I can compare the phones owned by myself and my 2 sons. My phone (w800) and one of my sons (a Sagem) are all plastic. My sons Sagem has taken a beating but has been very durable. I take pretty good care of my phones so my w800 has faired very well. My other son has a Motorola L6 (I warned him against Motorola’s - he now knows I was right) and the back of it is all metal. It has buckled and dented and despite being only a couple of months old already looks bad. The only bad point about the plastic in the W800 is that they applied a metallic paint to the body. This looks fine when new but it can scratch. I have found the paint on the very edges on the bottom corners has warn a little from the zipper on my phone case rubbing. But, that’s about it really. If not kept in a protective case the W800’s are not that resistant to wear and tear – most phones aren’t. I also think a completely metal body would make a phone heavy and probably make a phone more susceptible to damage when dropped. i.e. Plastic should absorb shock better.

plastic is fine for phones, but it has to be good quality and well built. take for example a w810, it's made of plastic, it looks like plastic, but when you hold it it's really solid and makes hardly any squeaking sound. I've even dropped it and the sound it made was very solid. it didn't sound like it broke or something.
