both the k800i & the m600i are cheap because of the horribly cheap build quality of the phones...i have both these lemons & i so regret it.

A point everyone seems to be completely missing is this.

K series handsets have always been aimed at the masses. They carry high price tags when first released, but after a small amount of time they're dropped in price to something more suitable for the target consumer.

I dont have any hard facts to hand, but generally the most popular SE handsets you'll see in the hands of the public in the street are K series phones (or their Walkman alternative). The K series are common as muck, the slags of the SE company..

Thats one reason im considering not buying one, because even though i might pay through the nose to get one early in its life, within a month or two everyone will have one for half the price i paid and it wont feel as exlusive anymore.

I'm not entirely convinced about the long term reliability of the lens cover on the K800 (time will tell how many of these start to open/close by themselves), but having had a W950 and M600 to test (and these were prototypes), I fail to see where you think they're cheaply built! They're solid as a rock!

Smartph0ne is known to me as a SE hater, he flames me on other forums for having a good opinion regarding SE handsets.

He cant handle the fact people like their phones, and they have good experiences with SE phones, where as he does not.

Another case of someone who cannot think outside of the box, cannot see or respect other peoples opinions and attempts to force them onto others.

@etaab

I always stick to reading the opinions of proper respected reviewers anyway. If I was unhappy with the build quality of a phone I had I would flog them on.

I agree with what you said about the K series, they are the floozies of

It seems everyone has had one. I would even go as far as to say that the k series has been had by more people than even the lower-end and cheaper J and T series.

Can't speak for the M600i but I've got no qualms about the build quality of my K800i and didn't have any with my K750i for the 12 months I had it. I used it every single day and didn't have one problem with it. Saying that, my T610 and T68i were both fine also.

Build quality is a good point, k8 is really disappointing, even k610 deserved metal joy and alu cover, so why to save costs at k8?

WhatTHE... Is this the esato-joke thread? I won't stoop to unnecessarily repeating just WHY the k800 is so great (just think why, e.g., developers like fishlabs use se as their reference phones... Because they are crap? Methinks NOT!). Work-wisely I have to use Nokias (6680/n70...) - and I have to admit I quite like the big-screen-chunkiness and all, but they are crap! Take away symbian os, and in absolutely no area do those phones beat se-k-series... Not liking a phone's looks or absence of features are no valid criteria for dissing it - those specs are no secrets... Don't compare a ladder and a folding chair and nag because the chair wobbles when you stand on it - the one's for climbing, the other for sitting! Oh what do I bother... This must be the joke-page... Boohoooo, my status-symbol got all cheap, and how could I know it's black when I bought it... Well, call me from your i-p-odd and tell me how long your N70 takes to load opera... [addsig]

i guess it is good to wait than buy now, just like me i waited for the w800 to be ok than buy it, i guess i would still go for a w900i than this phone, no offense but i think the upgrades are minimal just some parts cam and others not much to make me upgrade ,, for now.....

well, Kamino, what I'm saying is, 'chairs and ladders',... Apples and Oranges... A lot of these x-is-better-than-y games change ballpark midgame! You know all phone specs incl. its colour and d*cksize before you buy. If you don't you're a bad shopper. You can describe the differences between the apple and an orange, but to rate one over the other means you no longer talk about fruit, you're talking about your very own taste. Can be interesting, but doesn't help s.o. Who's never tasted either. Other than that? I've had a ps2 that broke down after 2 days. The next 1 has been top for nearly 4 years. What if I had switched to the hip new xbox and spread the idea that all ps2's only last 2 days and that's why they are so cheap... Rubbish! All maggflodd's saying is, Be real in discussions like this. My k750's joystick has seen shitloads of abuse in over 11 mths - can i assume 'all joystick-complainers are pathetic liars'? F*ck no! Be real, keep debates useful or else things like this post happen because wherever you click for advice or inspiration there's a pissing contest on where some don't even open their trousers, simply claiming victory for soggiest pants instead... Well, but that's just maggflodd [addsig]

Well, my K750I has lasted me very well over the year. It's got some ware marks on it from living in my pocket, and the Orange sticker is falling off. Apart from that it's worked flawlessly so I would say it has GREAT build quality.
as for the K800I being cheap, mmm like I said on expansys today:
K800I: £329.95
M600I £314.95
i-mate JAMin: :£374.95
Ipaq hw6515: £389.95
Nokia N70: £269.95
Nokia E61: £299.95
Nokia N80: £394.95 - Does this not have problems with it's slider quality?
Nokia N91: £399.95
Nokia 9300I (With WiFi) £394.95
Samsung Z510: £299
Apple Ipod Video 60GB: £304.95

Looking at that I'd say the K800I was well priced, and as for cheap build quality??? Where the hell are people getting that from, sure the lens cover may wobble, but no ones had it fall of yet. And if you ask me from what I've seen of it it's built like a rock. Infact in a couple of reviews the solid feeling build has been acclaimed.

Thanks appoloa. Not being patronising, your post stands for a nicely helpful contribution. That's what I mean, kamino! Come on: why is k800 so cheap? 'Because it's black, doesn't have symbian and slept with my girlfriend that one time'... Maybe it's cheap (it's not really though, universally speaking) because se had a fantastic year, or so that 3rd-world networks like these here in Ireland start bloody selling it at all, or because se realised that selling it loads is more business-sensical than just having it admired loads by people who'll never be able to afford it, or maybe they know it's crap after all... All possible, sure! [addsig]
