If they are making these cards jointly now, then what speed are we getting? The slow sony one? Or the sandisk one? |

@QVGA
Surely there has been another test since then - maybe in a computer magazine.

Sandisk makes both memory cards. but some cards are faster than other, even from the same maker. does sandisk ones read "hi-speed" and sony's not? |

Here's your bowl of crow. He did not post it as either a fact nor as an opinion, thus my request to provide a fact. This forum is full of people that post crap, walk away and never show up again. As for this forum being about opinions, in some ways, yes and in some ways no. If someone asks for a help question then it is a forum/thread about facts, providing help. See dictionary.com for the definition of the word fact. Finally, if you are going to mock someone, it is a good thing to spell your words properly so as to lend a bit of credibility to your posts.
Class dismissed.

Thanks for the reminder on the article. I read this when I had a PSP. Duplicating the tests are quite easy. Being an engineer I did this. Got a stop watch and a large file. Loaded it on to a 512 MS Duo from Sandisk and Sony. Guess what? Almost the exact same time between them. Not more than 2 seconds uploading and downloading. The variable in the mix was that I was using a Macintosh as opposed to a Windows machine. It is a fact that Mac does their hardware differently than Windows and for the most part drivers are not needed for "mass storage" devices. The so-called high speed MS Duo Pro have not shown that they are much faster as well. Someone mentioned them in another thread in this forum proving that the Hi-Speeds did not offer a competitive speed advantage over the normal MS DUP Pro's.
Sooooooooo, after all is said and done. Your article, while interesting, still takes us back to ground zero. Especially considering it is a bit dated. However because I am a good sport, I will run the same test with the 512 Sandisk that I have in my w810i and my Sony MS Duo Pro.
Just say the word and I will do the test and post the results.
Oh, and let's not get too touchy. Masseur will delete the posts, so keep them civil. Heated is no problem but not angry or something like that.

Thanks for dropping by. I guess you were wrong again about me not answering your post. You gonna bother to post this in the other thread?
Only took you about a week to reply.
I will post them when I am have time to do it.
Just to make sure you don't have a sidestep, or a way to get around the results, what exactly would you like me to test and with which MS cards.

There is nothing to sidestep. We just wanna know what is the better buy. Just do the same tests done in the benchmarks link i posted so we have a fair comparison.
Cards are the same, Sandisk and Sony MS Duo Pro(any capacity) |

One thing to remember is that I am using a Mac, not a PC, so times may vary. I will use 2 512 cards. I will run three types of tests.
1 large file
2 similar size files
1 large file and smaller files
I will load data to and from the card and record the times in both directions.
Is this a fair test and meets the requirements? While I do this how about you finding some new test data as your data is a year or so older.
