Cool. Well thanks for the response.
I'm sure if we hide and wait long enough one of Esato's tech handy wizards will wip up some festive remix friendly solution eventually.
Cheers. |

Here's a possible solution that works on my W810i...
You get the right order of album tracks, as long as you access them via
artists > artist name > album name. No good going via artists > all >
album name. Nope, that gives you tracks in alpahbetical order.
So the issue remains for "various artists" compliations etc but works for your vanilla albums. Creating a playlist on the phone seem to be the way to deal with that, and it seems to learn the right order from track numbers.
FYI I just copy files over from my PC via USB (no messing with Disc2Phone or anything), and organise them in directories same as on the PC which works for Winamp:
artist
album
trackname
trackname in the format:
08 - London's Burning.mp3
Files have the right tags with track numbers (which may be the clue). Filename may not actually matter, I've not tested.
First I thought you had to create a playlist to fix it, then I thought you needed to go to the walkman window where you are playing a track (any track, I think). select MORE > SORT > and select AS CREATED . But now I can't see that the option does anything

I converted all songs from my CDs using iTunes and edit the tag info of each song, including filled in the track number, also on iTunes.
Then I copied the songs thru card reader to my W800 and W800 sorted all songs in the right order.

I think I've worked out precisely what the W810i is up to with regard to track playing order - for M4A files anyway !
- Copying M4A files to the memory stick using a card reader and windows, the W810i seems to play them in reverse order by default.
- If, while playing an album, you select "more" then "sort" and "title", it will sort the tracks by the titles in the tags, NOT anything related to the filename.
- So, you can put a track number in front of the track name in each tag, then select "more>sort>title" and will play them in the correct order.
- UNFORTUNATELY, it seems to completely forget the requested sort order when you change album, so the sort option is rather useless!
I have resorted to dragging and dropping tracks in reverse order from windows - this seems to get the desired result.
I wish SE would pull their finger out and improve the firmware to actually use the track numbers in the tags. It would also seem rather sensible to have a menu option to chose ALBUMS as well as just artists. Loads of people must use these phones to play compilation albums, and they make this really awkward to set up.
