i hate to say this an b4 ne flames me i dont work for voda so i aint a voda fan boy....

Voda do customise their menues but at least they r not as bad as orange who force the icons onto every phone... vodafone have their reasons for locking down mp3 ringtones etc an i have mentioned it many a time...

And the reason why they lock out the OTA Firmware update is because the amount of data being used by your phone... would u like to b charged for 20mb of downloads on ur next bill JUST to get the latest firmware? I certainly wouldnt... and anyway u can use davinci to get rid of the branding if u wanted to...

OTA updates only use 2-3mb as it only updates the bit that has changed

have a read of the FOTA "Firmware update over the air" discussion, specifically my first reply which links to the support info for this topic

Guys, I'm new to this - but after my brief 24 hour GRIM experience with the Orange-branded D600, I'm VERY keen never to have a phone with orange software ever again. Ever.

Today I walked into the car phone warehouse where they have an unbranded K800, but it is only available on o2. They would not hand it over to me. Next I call orange to find out what the deal is. They said that they expect to ship the phone next week - and there may be come generic (unbranded) handsets around. Lets hope so!

This da vinci thing - please can you tell me more? I think that orange are REALLY STUPID to make every phone's menu & features similar. I know they may be big, but they DO NOT have the experience of people like SE who KNOW what the people want. What do you all think?

Cheers, Colin

Hi all, sorry to disagree with some of you but from my recent experience T-Mobile are the most improved Network IMHO, there is very little branding bar links to T-Zones and a Web N Walk shortcut. You can pay £15 as soon as you get your phone for an unlock code and as for network coverage i always seem to have a full strength signal and the biggest plus is their staff seem really friendly and helpfull and seem to actually know what they are doing/talking about. As i explained to some nice telesales girl trying to get me to swap to Orange
"i wouldn't get an Orange phone if they paid me a monthly subscription"

I may very well get a K800 tomorrow on O2 or Three, this will be after 9 years dedicated service to Orange but I even noticed last year when I got my new phone the really crap deals they do, I believe they have changed hands again in the last couple of years so may explain this change. I can tell you that my long service to them has meant bugger all to my upgrade deals, whilst O2 customers on this site are getting astounding deals. Bit of a no brainer now I think which is a shame as I used to like Orange.

Guys,

What's the crack with this da vinci stuff? Orange have just offered me a VERY good re-contract, so I'm tempted to take their rebranded crap in the hope that I can make it normal....

What do you say?

Cheers, Colin
