Here in Singapore, SE is getting more and more popular...can almost rival with other brands like Nokia, Motorola and Samsung...
Majority of the youngsters here own at least a T610/T630, K700i is still quite popular, the most popular will be K750i for those wanna have business-class look on their phone and for those who can afford a lil extra cash will go for W800i or W900i.
Nokia is still the dominant market because of the variety of phones and aimed at larger target of ppl.
As for Motorola, all I can see is Razr V3 be it pink or the black one...so BORING!!! hahah...(No offence to Moto fans)

a week ago, when i went browsing to mobile fone store. i heard a man (arround 30yrs) at the front of SE shop pointing at w800 dummy n said to his wife "WOW look at this new NOKIA W800i walkman, it very attractive n nice design compared to other brand" , on the other side i'm talkin to myself "its SONYERICSSON MORON!" geez!

Same here with Nokia popularity, I think people've become quite prejudiced now about it all... like "NOKIA is CONNECTING PEOPLE and nuff else...". I've been there myself. But then when my Nokia 2300 got stolen I thought that I need something really good... really cool. Started comparing different phones and came to conclusion that SE k750i is very cool & affordable for me, so I went for it and use it now with delight.
Nokia is the most preferable phone [people've got hooked with 7260 ( if I remember correctly ) - every 10th person I see in the streets has that phone... got quite boring, I wouldn't want a phone EVERYONE has] while the clever people just go and silently choose the best of the best - SE productions. And there's getting more&more clever people here every day.

Here in Dominican Republic, the one that know what can expect from a phone go for the normal people just buy the phone that they can pay, and most of them just recivied some movils as gifts from family in USA, and you know in usa is not very popular, coz people are only looking for some fashion models, no funtional ones. When someone ask me how i paid that money for my W800, i just enjoy showing some little thing my baby can do, and the best part is when i said that my phone can carry almost as many music as a CD. mouth open..... wide open!!!

where i live in england, people usually have moto v3's and nokias etc, but if someone is seem with a phone, it is seen as classy and people think wow. just like when i brought my k750 into school, no one else has it as they are not willing to pay the money for it, ecspecially when i first bought it for £250, and people thought i was either really rich, spoilt or just plain lucky

Here in Sweden, Sony Ericsson is very popular, especially among the young people. SE were actually rated at third place in "hottest trademark" in Sweden 2006, when "Ungdomsbarometern" did a lookup on whats popular with youths, right after Coca-Cola at first place, and Tele2-Comviq, a large'n'cheap('n'half-poor-reception) cellphone operator, at second.
SE 've got themself a lot of customers through the k750, but more importantly with the w800. Seems like everyone up here has one of 'em!
EDIT: Also, first place in Cellphone brand category (2nd: Samsung, 3rd: Nokia)

in malaysia...there's no actual official figure.
the closest data to show SE is popular is a mag I read recently called HWM.
SE is at no3 if not mistaken when they conduct a poll in the hottest IT centre in Malaysia's capital.
in Singapore....asia.cnet.com is showing tht K750 have taken the top spot until dec last yr when nokia n70 is out. But yet SE have around 4 model in their top 10.
in taiwan...there's a survey figure
"Sony Ericsson exceeded a 10% share of the Taiwan handset market for the first time, reported the Chinese-language Apple Daily, citing statistics by domestic distribution channels. The handset vendor grabbed a 10.3% market share in February, following Nokia with 25.8% and Motorola with 25.3%"
http://www.digitimes.com/610.asp
Above figure just manage to show roughly how popular SE is in Asiapacific
even they are only world no5 in global mobile phone shipment.
OF course the global shipment include CDMA in which SE only have a small japan market to support (where else LG and Samsung is big in CDMA)
note: in Asia pac (exclude korea and japan...trend setter for a brand to be popular need to refer to HK and then Taiwan and then singapore and then malaysia)
