W800 music better than IPOD? |

i have had an ipod shuffle and traded it in for a sony nw-e99 beacuse i didn't like the sound quality at all didn't have enough bass and my w800 certainly has that you agree? |

I am on w800i right now and its the best thing I have ever heard. Am gonna get a shuffle soon for my youger bro and compare the sounds.

Personally i think the se and other phone functions are little more than gimmicks. The camera sucks due to no flash/optical zoom and the SERIOUS lack of space makes it a gimmicky mp3 player. Thats why the ipod rules. Also lets face it, if your an audiophile you don't listen to mp3s fullstop.

The camera is still one of the best on any cameraphone, and you can get a Xenon flash. Agreed about the optical zoom though.
Lack of space? You can go up to 4GB on the memory card, and the W900i gives you another 512MB on board (well 480MB or so). The new M2 cards are limited, which is a real downer - especially for anyone that has already bought a cheap 1 or 2GB MS PRO Duo for a W800i.
How many audiophiles are there really? Remember when people wouldn't buy CD's over vinyl? And, what about video? Who in their right mind would accept MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 video? Fact is, most people aren't that bothered and will happily encode to a lower level to save space, than have raw files that sound a bit better (depending on what you're using to listen, the actual music type, and where you're listening to it) but fill up the memory after a single album!
I listen when out, on the train, walking to the station, on a plane. In all these environments, I cope with 96kps which I'd never DREAM of using on my PC or HiFi! So, I don't think the Walkman is a gimmick at all.
I guess you won't be putting the W800i firmware on your K750i anytime soon!

Totally accept your point mate about the audiophiles. All i was trying to say though was people are talking about quality but thats missing the point really. Also i stand by the space issue. Myself and most of my friends/colleagues have made the ipod mini-video move (4-30gb) because space was an issue. With the ipod you have the option of having everything you own on one device which you can the hook up to a small stereo like the bose sounddock and have a very very compact entire music centre

you are right jmcomms...a 2 mp camera....tht a good a s a digital cam ....a small time camcoder...mp3 player ha plays mp4/aac ...mp3 at196kbps...in w800 give it a try ..you will rock ....
and did someone say lack of space...a 512mb cad icluded ..and expandable upto 4 gb ..+ 38 mb of internal space....if you say tht is a gimmic than
give me a break...
tell me a phone you can use in airplane listen to music and take pictures...
n a airplane ...none apart form sony can i can think of ...
all this and loads of other features....
there is nothing better tan this for now......may be you can get your hands on one and will realise wht i am tlaking bro ....have a nice day

The post is comparing to IPOD, which in my comparison there is no comparison and as far as the camera goes, again still one of the best on the market, but only for phones. I never use it for any picture i might want to look at alot or print

You and you´re friends are the minority...most people won´t need more than 1gb lol...i prefer to have only a device than carrying to, more yet if the sound quality is almost the same

The earphones that came with my W600i are absolutely amazing. I have to say having being used the IPOD ones too I like the w600 ones much better. They are just so damn clear and good, you can hear the base and beats of the songs very clear.

Fair play maybe i am a space hog. Although i do like to carry every episode of family guy and southpark with me at all times along with about 200 albums. Best option i think is to get both and also a decent digicam then carry them all around in some sort of fetching man bag! :-)

Hi I am not sure the comparison between an Ipod (A Limited to Single function device) and a multi purpose phone, is a fair one neither devices can do what the other can (you cant make calls or take photos with an Ipod nor can you store 20plus Gig on a SE phone yet!) But whist I am a hard core  fan I am not convinced about the walkman series of phones yet, I convinced a colleague in my office to look at the W800 when he was upgrading his phone and he did indeed buy one. But in all fairness the sound quality is not great it emits a constant faint but audible hiss which for a digital device is not really good enough!!!!! please take note!
But as he says he wanted an all in one device and this seemed to be the best of the buch at the time he bought his. One point I would make is Ipods are old technology (Mechanical) dressed up in nice clothes with loads of marketing money thrown at them bit like the "Kings Clothes" perhaps? 
ps Ebay do a nice line in bags!!

You are right may be we should just compare the quality of music....coz as afull functional devide ipod is no match ...
but if you compare only themusic...may be there will be a division on tht..
with people having different opinions..
but irs like instead of investing in a ipod...you can invest a little more and get a multi funcion device with excellent sound quality ...
sounds like a good deal ? |
