So far I've not had any problems with my hybrid with dust, though I try to be careful where I put it, and try to put it where it won't get dust ingress. I've never used one of those cases - from what I've seen they trap dust between the phone and the case and then friction covers the case (and especially the screen!) with loads of fine scratches

... my k750 has never had a dust problem. i saw a bit of dust on the round part of the joystick just under the top bit you touch, but i got that out easy with a tissue... but no dust under the screen. i recently got my k750 replaced because of a certain problem that i accidently did, and now its on the newest firmware r1aa008, and well... its perfect, not one bug or problem. i even feel the phone is much improved, quicker and more reliable etc. i think that unless SE want to improve the camera or add something like flightmode (just an example), there is no reason for them to fiddle anymore. i too don't like the look of the w800, but i would like the flightmode... not interested in the media player, but thats my opinion. but there are also some advantages the k750 has over the w800 aswell...

Thanks for the replys.

JN: Nah not really having second thoughts, its just that I dont like the look of the w800i, but would like the added music features because thats one of the main things I use my k750i for..
Hence me asking if it was possible to hybrid the cases and make a w800i with k750i front and rear covers, and the middle orange strip.

I actually bought the phone with dust under the screen. Since cleaning it out (I got the seller to clean it out for me, as it was something he didnt mention when he sold it to me lol), there has been no further problem with dust getting in there.

Xugaa, my k750i had that firmware too. Was working perfect for a day, and then things started going wrong, the whole screen just flashes when connecting to anything (i.e. computer, charger). It still charges, but is not detected by the computer. More recently the phone started to screw up when attempting to record or play videos. Exactly the same problem.. click on video, screen goes blank, flashes white, repeat x20, and then turns off. If you try to turn it on, it just continues to flash. Only way to turn it on is to connect it to the charger, which I discovered will actually boot the phone up and it will work (after about another 10min of flashing). After that, the latest problem is the the whole phone has slowed down. I mean really sloooowed down. Takes about 7sec for the picture folder to load, and when typing a txt message, say you press a button and you get the little preview thing at the top right, that will stay there for about 6 sec instead of the 1.5-2sec? it should.

As you can see, something is really wrong lol, which is why im getting it replaced, and why I wanted you guys to help me choose between another k750i or a w800i.

kristianm, is the activity menu the button above the joystick? If so, I dont mind losing that when upgrading to the w800i, as i've only ever used it once lol.

I have a W800i and havent had any trouble with dust under the screen after 5 months of using it.
The main differences between the two are the music player, flight mode, comes with 512mb instead of K750is 64mb and has HPM-70 headphones that are better than the headphones supplied with the K750i.

many people comment about the HPM-70 headset being better but that was not my experience.

using the same music from the same memory stick I much preferred the sound through my K750 headset when plugged into my W800

the only thing I did like about the W800 headset was the rubber tubing holding the cable!

I have tried both and preferred the HPM-70's. Also you can put your own headphones on the HPM-70.
Personally the best sound I got from my W800i was using a set of £120 Beyerdynamic Dynamic DT100's.

on my K750 I alternate between the K750 headset if I am expecting to be making or receiving calls, or the Sony MDR-EX81SL which give excellent sound and comfort for around £25 (off ebay)
