Sick of Your K750/W800 Joystick Yet? |

( Mine K750I joystick stuck up after only 1 month of usage. It won't go right, and the directon right is the most unused direction for me. Never played games with it. I used a compressor on it to clean the dirt. I sow the dirt coming out through the keypad, but the youstick is still not going right. When you look at it from above, it doesn't stands upright. It is little tipped on the right. I think that there is a bigger problem then plain dirt. I went to a SE service, and they told me to leave the phone to them to be fixed in two days! Two days!!! I don't have a backup phone. I gues i'll have to make through that two days without a phone ( It's weird that they told me that thay haven't other K750i problems in the service, and I read in this forum that there are numerous problems so I guess that they are lying. |

there are not numerous problems. There are some problems yes but did you ever think about this: people for whom joysticks work fine aren't gonna bother making a post about it, but those who have problems are frustrated so more likely to post that they have a problem.
So what you are seeing on the posts is disproportionate compared to the problem. In other words for every post by someone who has a problem, there are hundreds who don't have a problem and therefore see no need to tell everyone "hey I don't have a problem".
So when the service centre say that, they are not lying.

I think that is finally aware of so many defectful joysticks!
That to explain why the successor W810i comes with a pad, and many other models already in the market too (Z520, W550, W900); all with a pad instead of the sucky joystick!

Hi guys
Could someone point me in the direction of how to get my joystick repaired, because mine refuses to go in certain directions, and also my camera shutter button is a little dodgy. Finaaly, how at the same time I can get a new phone housing, because again it slightly damaged.
Unfortunatly I'm a complete novice on dismantaling phones, so I'll leave that to the pros.
Thanks for your help guys
Cheers

yes I agree but everyone knows that when people are pissed about something they will be motivated to complain about it, whereas people who have nothing to complain about just go their merry way without saying anything.
The point I'm making is that no-one actually bothers to post that their joystick is okay, so the fact that lot's complain means there must be a much higher proportion who don't have any problem whatsoever.
I agree the joysticks can stuffup, but so do ALL the other make's of phone with joystick. Also, the joystick recovers under gentle treatment, which leads me to believe that the actual proportion of people with faulty joysticks who don't abuse it and who look after their phone is small. That small proportion are unlucky and have a legitimately faulty joystick, the rest just don't know how to look after such a sensitive piece of equipment.
I'm not saying their are no legitimate cases of completely rooted joysticks, but to jump on these forum's and claim that ALL SE joysticks are completely unusable and will all eventually screw up is a crock of shit.
Joysticks are sensitive equipment. They are not as reliable as D-pads. But ever tried to seriously play games on a D-pad? I'd rather SE kept the joystick, but because of the excess bad press all the heavy handed phone users are giving it, it looks like SE are going to drop it.
So I'm not particularly happy about that, and I blame all the peeps who make the claim that the K750 et al are shit phones because of the crap joystick, when I've never had a single broken joystick on any SE phone I've ever played with.
I am fed up with people thinking that because they have a problem, so must everyone else. So your joystick is crapped out? Get a replacement phone for god's sake and stop giving the phone a bad name it doesn't deserve.

Very well said.
I for one have several phones and never had a problem with the joystick. My eldest son plays a lot of games in his phones (T610, T630, K700i & K508i), and I haven't heard any complaints.

Hmmm, im not convinced...i love se phones, don't get me wrong, but do believe that if we are going to pay £300+ for a new se phone, then we at least deserve it to be a reliable device. Although the point has been made that many people don't have a problem and don't post; from the reviews all over this site, there is definatley a large number of people who do experience problems...
Se should be able to develop a good enuogh system to eliminate all dust problems, i dont think they have spent enough devoted time to designing the joystick in away to prevent these problems.
Maybe, if se are to contiinue with joysticks, it would be a wise investment to devote some time to elliminating all the problems they cause..i think we all agree on those grounds

That's why they will move to d-pad's (if they do), it's just very very hard to design a joystick that is reliable under heavy handed use. In my observations, all joystick based devices are sensitive pieces of equipment. That goes back to game controllers, computers, or anything that has a joystick.
Basically they NEED to be treated carefully, you can't bash them, so it becomes a choice - can I use it gently and still enjoy the phone, or should I look for d-pad based devices? Atleast with a game controller you can replace it without replacing the whole console.
I find it hard to be critical since I haven't had much of a problem, and I also don't actually know of anyone who has a Joystick based phone who actually has a problem (other than peeps on forums). The ONLY time any of my SE phones have developed problems is when used heavy handedly. They also come good after returning to gentle use.
I think of all the peeps who have joystick problems, if you eliminate the people who really bash their joysticks, then those that are left are a very small minority. That small minority don't bash the joystick but simple have faulty phones and if they return them for replacements they will probably get a more reliable unit.

My only worry about my K700i is that it has a sticky/rubbery keypads while with that of the K750i . . . I have no problemos at all !

The probs with the joystick is proportianate to the use of the joystick itself....whereas when not used proportionatly the problem is less than the use to which the origianl use of the joystick is used for. I hope that clears that up. |
