Sick of Your K750/W800 Joystick Yet? |

When i had my k700 i never once had a problem with my joystick...but since getting my k750 in august , im completely sick and tired of having to put up with my joystick not wanting to go in certain directions...currently it won't go up or right:(
It seems so many people share this problem of 'dust' getting under the joystick...why is it such a problem on this phone particularly, can se not manage to create a joystick which doesent let dust under it?

I know many have these problems, but cant say why.
Personally I have never experienced joystickproblems on any of my S//E phones, neither on my sons S//E phones. All our S//E joystick phones through time from T310/T68i, T610, K700 up to K750/W800 still are in pefect functioning order.

I found that if I give the games a real lashing, the joy stuffs up so I've learnt to be more gentle on it. Once you learn to use it gently it recovers and works like normal. I don't know why, but this has happened to mine. It recovers if I don't hammer it so hard in games.
I'm guessing that with heavy pressure the joystick somehow becomes separated from the contact, but once used for a while with lighter pressure it reattaches or re-seals or something.
Now that I've got the pressure right, it doesn't stuff up anymore. I wonder if that gells with other peeps exerience?

My V600i joystick is fine at the moment but i am totally anticipating it phutting out. My K750i one felt much sturdier, you guys should be be pleased with yours! The K600/08/V600 ones are stubbly and smooth metal so its harder to use. The K750 ones are fantastic, W800 come in second place.
I think, reading and viewing all the new rumours, Sony Ericsson might be moving away from joystick. I hope they are. Or they could at least sort out the problem with joysticks.

I've experienced this problem on both the K700 and K750. Beyond dismantling the phone with a T6 (which I'm too scared to try), I haven't found any other viable solution. |

My joystick on my W800i is fine, it is the first time I have had a joystick phone and I quite like it, although it is possible to make the occassional mistake. I just hope after a few months or so my joystick doesnt befold the same fate as many people's have on this board. |

found the same thing as yours... at the first month of my fon i was very rigid with the stick, just trying to force till it gives up, its part of using the warranty i guess...
then the stick went crazy like it doesnt respond to left or down movement, so i tried pressing it further to the left and down for a long time then the cursor starts moving... after that rigid use, i tend to use the keys since it has corresponding selections... 1-9 for pop-ups and desktop menu. then eventually my stick went back to its normal self. up until now still functioning good.

Not sick of mine yet at all.
Hate to say it but i've been using joysticks for years, like it or not they accumulate dust and crap. It's not just limited to those on mobile phones |

Ive been haunted by this occurrence for some time. My k700i was effected and it seems to have passed over to my 7 month old k750i. Between the 5-7 month border it had Begun.
However...
To simply overcome this problem, go into the menu screen and rotate the joystick in all angles for about 30 seconds. It kind of renews it, although you'll find it plays up a few hours later.
Essentially, you should dismantle it and give it a good clean. But if your like me and will only take it to peices if neccessary (a new full housing) you should use the alternative way.
Hope this helps! |

I recently replaced my K700i for a V600i because my joystick on my K700i was so bad that it no longer did anything except press OK. I cannot go long enough without a phone, so i did not get it fixed. However, my V600i a few days ago turned off and wouldn't turn back on and so i am getting that fixed and my K700i has become my back-up phone. Its HORRIBLE! I will be getting it fixed as soon as my V600i comes back. And earlier it was mentioned that going easy on your joystick may help out, NOT TRUE, my K700i has been sitting dormant for over a month and it is still as bad as when i left it. My advice is to take good care of your phone while its good. Also, i found using a vacuum cleaner on the joystick does help a little bit, however this does not last too long. |
