Of course the Symbian OS has a filesystem!
Even on the old Psions (which Epoc OS Symbian OS is built upon) you could choose which drive to save your file. This functionality is clearly evident in the white paper as well. They only choose not to show (much of it) to the user for simplicity.

Of course there's a way to save data, but is it compatible with the kind of thing you get on a memory stick? They way they read and write data could be totally different to what a windows PC would write (When you write to a memorystick from your PC it stores things in directories with the 8.3 DOS filename). I'm betting that functionality is not in any version of the Symbian OS? The actual format of a DOS file (i.e. the file header, etc.) not mention the driver for the memorystick itself. |
