They are better not Best, they are better because of their marketing strategy, they sell phones like potato chips, they believe in quantity and not in quality.

after 2 recent published surveys where one states that Nokia is at the top with Samsung in reliability ranking (Which? mag) and the other where Nokia is neck-to-neck with SE (German mag), I wonder when (or whether) the the above slanted view is gonna stop.

Just as nokia has its own problems, so does SE. Infact most of the posts here are about SE problems. But just because the phones have problems it does not mean that we stop loving them. We all love our phones, be it a nokia or SE. Aint it so?

Nokia's marketing strategy and ability to crank out new phones/models, albeit some are rehashed is what's responsible for them outselling the competition. And even if their phones were crap, which they're not, how is it possible that they maintain this superb record? If anything, their phones have improved...

It always does guy...

I personally dont think Nokia will keep up with Electronic companies that manufacture cell phones... a phone is no more just a phone.

Those who think se is the best should go and read the thread ' se should stop making phones that sound like a constipated rabbit'.

The term Blokia almost certainly derives from an amalgamation of Block (brick-like) and Nokia due to the size of their early phones however these days I feel the term is mostly used as a simple derogatory remark against the manufacturer...
I think its time to get over this rather immature labelling and while yes, I do agree that Nokia do proliferate their product, most of my friends and colleagues who own Nokias are very satisfied and rarely complain that there phone is out of dated because a slightly newer model has become available. I think that issue is more for those of us who have a higher level of mobile phone interest and frequent forums such as this.

Very interesting point of view. And THANKS for the explanation of the Blokia term origin... I didn't even know where it came from or what it meant...

And I think it says something that a prolific phone buyer such as myself has continued to buy and use Nokias consistently till date.

IMO, Nokia has improved over the years. I have had problems with SEs, Motos and Siemens, and had them returned/replaced. But after 30 phones in 4 years I am yet to return a Nokia for any reason (those who insist that Nokia believe in quantity not quality may need to be more objective). This is not to say that Nokias dont get returned for flaws by others, its just to strike a point: all brands mess up, but if more people are buying Nokias, then there must be some merit in what the Fins are doing.

AYA, there are amongst us those who would have us believe that Nokia owners are either blind, mentally deficient or slavishly herd-like in our choice of manufacturer.

Regardless of how often one peruses http://www.esato.com/board/forumrules.php the ill-concealed "hatred" which is proliferant continues unabated. Is this the Esato spirit which drew me to this site? Initially i took the slings and arrows in good humour, but recently i've begun to question my decision.

Yes, these forums are for airing our views, for speaking our minds, but i'd really advise any who intend stooping to such levels of animosity to once again read through the aforementioned rules. I, for one, would enthusiastically applaud the moderators taking a firmer stance in this particular regard, even more so since matters do seem to be veering ever so gradually towards a flame war, which i know would be unpleasant, to say the very least.
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.
