Let me just say that I am a fanatical Mac user with every iPod going and I've been waiting for the Rokr ever since I first heard about it. I saw one for the first time in the flesh today. No way will I be buying it. It's ugleeeee!
I'm not bothered about the 100 song limit. As I mostly have an iPod on me anyway it's really only for the times when I absolutely cannot take more that one gadget with me.
I also don't mind Motorola's GUI - I have a Razr at the moment and love it. I do prefer SE though. The Rokr looked and felt big and klutzy. I was expecting a sort of T630 ish feel (which I also had in white and loved it) but it's nothing like. It'a twice the size and weight. It looks and feels like an entry level no frills phone, the sort I'd buy my mum!
So, sorry Apple. Much as I love you, I'm now researching the W550i. Hey ho

I manage a Cingular Wireless store and have had experience with both phones.
Just wanted to add that the w800i blows the ROKR out of the water. Mainly everything about it.
Anything from the design, to the camera, the just how the phone works.
The ONLY advantage I would see the ROKR have over the w800i is the external stereo speakers. But to be honest.. who uses that over a nice pair of noise-reduction earphones that come with the w800i?
The 100 song limit kills the ROKR.. get yourself a w800i, toss in a 2GB MDS badboy.. and you're set. |
