I own a 20GB 4G ipod and a K750, the only mp3's i've ever put on the phone are those for ringtones, I could never imagine using it as a dedicated player as it's just ridiculously basic - I mean sure it plays the music but it doesn't really do anything and it's a damn pain in the arse to use for music. Plus buying enough msduo to play all my music would cost many times the price of the nano!, would be a complete nightmare even trying to use it.

I will be getting my nano 4GB next week, it's less than half the size of the K750i so I will hardly know it's there, even with the previous ipod I just stuck one in each pocket.

I also notice the difference in the way the sound is handled by the phone and the ipod. Now the only way to explain this would be via Signal Noise Ratio..Apple doesnt advertise that but here is an example AM radio is about 30% SNR and FM about 50% other mp3 players eg: Iaudio has a 97%SNR(Damn good mp3 player) Usually having at least a 95 ratio is excellent.

I am not sure about the likes of the W800 SNR but I can tell you that the circuitry is not going to be made to the highest standard of achieving high SNR..for the cost factor of things.

Like yourself Masseur I am all for all-in-one, but they still do come with there limitations and until that day I personally will be using seprates.

The Nano....without question!

I've got k750i and i've just sold my ipod mini.....to buy a nano!

Even just owning the nano would make me happy....and thats before i play any songs on it.

@ Massuer, i hear what your saying, but i have to agree that if a memory stick and a nano were on a table and i could choose either....well what do you think?

The only question is White or Black?????

Sound quality is dependant on the format and compression used. Out of the 2, a ms duo for me. Holds anything.

Yeah but if you compare the same mp3 track in both players you will seriously notice a big difference. I have seriously moved more to HD players for the convenience factor.

I wouldnt buy the NANO because I think its kinda overpriced at 4Gb its not far off in price from the 20Gb.

Sure i agree, i use a SONY NW HD5 20gb for music on the move for that reason (and 40 hours battery life) but out of the 2 options in the first post the ms duo is more flexible ;-)

yes, and you'll use it longer aswell. cause an mp-3 player is outdated faster then a phone. and an MSD pro can be used in the next phone you buy
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

I beg to differ, I have had my ipod for like 3 years and only recently upgraded to my yellow ipod because the collection was getting bigger. With regards to my phones well I have lost count how many times I have swapped them over and not all my phones use pro-duo.

I was talking moneywise rather which was better.2GB stick costs more than two 1GB sticks.PSP uses them also and only came out 10 dys ago. Hopefully the price of MS Pro duos will come down.

The Nano is smaller than a pac of cards.

@m100

In terms of value? A 2GB Nano would be better value if it was twice the price of a blank 2GB card. It's cheaper. Nuff said.

even though getting the mem card is more practical, id get the nano. prob the black one. although, if you have or intend to get a psp, then erm id say the mem stick (i think)

bout sound quality, ive got an ipod and a w800. the mega bass and hpm-70 kill the ipod! sorry! (IMO)

but the thought of having a phone, text, web (opera), 2gb Music player, Radio, Msn, few games and 2mp cam in one lil device is astounding !

I just bought a black nano and it's amazing, there are people here in work taking pictures of it next to normal day objects (cups, calcualtors and credit cards) so they can show their mates in the pub tonight.

Seeing one on the t'internet is one thing, but holding and playing with it is another again.

Best purchase this year!!

well just to compare the iPod Nano to the Sony NW-HD5 (a more equal test)

the Nano has a colour screen and is half the weight of the HD5 but.....

iPod Nano
90 x 40 x 7 mm
Sony HD5
90 x 56 x 14 mm

Twice as thick yet roughly the same size!!
Yet the Sony has a 20Gb HDD and the Nano only has up to 2Gb

Then theres the battery life. Sony has put up to 40 hours into theirs
So really theres still no competition to me.
