ideas to stop scammers using esato! |

The only problem I can see with this is, won't it just increase spamming ? Surely someone who is out to scam people will just post "willy nilly" ( ooh missus ) until they reach the required number of posts to sell !
Just me opinion ! |

I feel the best defence at the moment is to simply use your common sense.
If anyone's offering a phone at a 'bargain' price, and have recently joined with very few posts, be careful. Ask for pictures with the date and their Esato username on them. If you're a trusted seller with a good feedback, perhaps see if you can get the seller to send the item first and that you will pay on reciept of the goods in satisfactory condition, and point out you've done plenty of trades before and are therefore trustworthy.

A good idea in principle, but a few points I would like to raise ...
How much work would this involve for the moderators? If they have to police the Market forums on a regular basis to weed out those with less than the required number of posts?
Would this stop scammers? Unless the post limit was set reasonably high scammers would simply have to post for a little while until they reached that level. Set the limit too high and one risks alienating genuine sellers.
I think I would agree with Sam in saying that common sense is probably the best approach at the moment.
Perhaps it could be insisted upon that anyone wishing to sell something must provide a picture of it.

No system is perfect really so once again we come back to Sam's point about common sense.

Yeah but is it that easy to make it look like a hand written note, next to say a phone?

@joebmc all you have to do is take a photo of a handwritten note and and add it as another layer on the picture, and voila. i think the best way to do it is have an unbiased middleman hold on to the money and have the seller tell them when they've sent the item and have the buyer say they have recieved the item and the middleman passes on the cash.
