According to Komiyama San:
"Dick Komiyama, president, said the company had too many similar products and needed to "sharpen its portfolio".
But with falling sales in Asia - the one area of global growth in handset sales - and a gloomy economic picture in Europe, he admitted that the third quarter would "not drastically improve. But there's always Christmas".
Mr Komiyama emphasised the company would not be copying Nokia's approach. "We will define our own strategy," he said. But he admitted that "there is a lot of work to be done".

Now if only they'd admit that having comparatively weak high-end products was one of the core issues at play here, then we would really be seeing the fast-track towards progress... But nevertheless, this is an honest realisation and a necessary outlook from the CEO. I look forward to seeing the consequent improvements |

At least they admitted that they have to change a lot. Maybe there is still hope for SE and Eomer already mentioned that they will have a new management structure to change how things are going. |

The way I see it is that their planed solution is not focused on high-end but rather making variety of low-end types. |

Yep. Its a problem for me. In fact, the cancellation of Paris/Beibei could be for such a simple reason. SE aren't strong in the low end category, so they should strengthen in that area, but still not put all their eggs in that basket because SE is not known for selling ultra-low-end handsets for £20 and so it will take a while for the market to start to react more positively to this I suppose. But that said, the high end is not as strong as it should be either. |

needs to be stable so they are doing low to mid end stuff for guaranteed sales. Next thing is to release the phones that were being produced before Dick took charge which is what is happening. By not releasing these clone phones, would be at a major loss. Once this is done, they can move onto the new phones in development.
needs to remove all the junk before they move forward. If this is going on half way through 2009, then you should be worried for . You have seen the design of the X1 and the direction looks good. Info about Hecaro is also encouraging so I would say, a true indicator of the future of lies with the 16GB Walkman and the next X and P phones which should be seen around Christmas.
When people first saw the new range of odd looking BMW's, everyone said that they were doomed but look at them now. Let release their equivilant of the M3 and M5 before passing judgement. After driving both, there is nothing that comes close to those two. I expect the same from . |

Is there any news on whether the P1 will get a fw update? Any rumors on getting UIQ 3.3? I really wouldn't think so but who knows.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

@baddassman,
I just saw people saying how butt ugly BMW's were. Not they were going to fail? They are ugly anyway but damn nice and you wouldn't turn one down would you? I wouldn't (New M3 please Father Christmas). I prefer the C905 over the Samsung 8mbpx phone, even though it's not a smarty the C905 is IMO better.
But it's interesting how everyone thinks the G700 and G900 are good phones, but not many people thought Paris was good. I'm biased as IMO me G00 is the best SE yet.
Still surprised we haven't seen any 16gb Walkman pics yet. But is the memory irrelevant now cause of memory cards. |

I want to get hold of the G900 but having seen Beibei with UIQ 3.3, I wonder if the G900 will get an update and if it will be able to run the system well? I may wait for the UIQ 3.3 phones to be announced. |

That was something Mr Flint hardly admits. especially during the gloomy days of K850 and P990. I percieve that as good sign, but of course let this company do their jobs first before making final judgements. although i've been very sad about their sales downfall

I liked the old days when SE didn't have a huge phone portfolio of around 45ish phones available at one time. They had around 10 phones maximum and every one of them was a winner.
I think they need to release less phones (maybe one in each category), but put more effort into each of these phones to make them very competitive, or a market leader.
I think there are too many 2 mega pixel candybar SE phones to count at the moment.
