Just tried the update again via SEUS. Just to make sure I'm not missing something.
I have R1CA037, Western Europe, GENERIC SO
I run SEUS, and it goes through a long download process, then it goes through a long updating process. It says to disconnect and remove/re-insert battery. I do that and during the bootup, for just about 3 seconds I see a "Please Wait" and a progress bar that has about 1 "tick" in it, then it quickly moves on to the rest of the reboot. If I reboot again, that "Please wait" is gone.
Should I try a Master reset or is this the same behavior others have?
I really don't want to do an unnecessary reset since it takes so much time to put things back.
Thanks. |

We aren't talking about getting to 100% when the media player is updating, but the time it takes to search on an Artist or Album.
Once you go into the Artist or Album folder, you can start typing the first letters of the name, like "RU" for Rush. It takes my phone 1-2 minutes to get to "Rush", through the album info, then be able to play any Rush song. If I try to just scroll down without looking up by name, it also takes a few minutes to fully populate.
On the flip side, if I am in the Tracks folder, I can scroll or search by name very, very fast - almost immediate. Seems backwards to me.
how many artists have you got? it takes 2 seconds here on 037 =S |

That's normal if i remember SEUS updates correctly. Try checking the
firmware version your phone now has and see if it's updated.
You shouldn't need to do a reset .....
I reject your reality and substitute my own. |

I have 7GB, 1200 songs, 110 albums, 90 artists on my 8GB class 4 micro sd. Browsering through tracks with track names take a second or too. However, it takes 5~6 seconds to show the albums/artists on the screen. once scroll, i've gotta wait for another 5~6 seconds...
This is with 037 firmware... I can't wait to try 038 :-s

Yeah, it still shows R1CA037 both in the Update Service > Software Version and using > * < < * < * (not that those should be different).
It just seems to go through ALL of the motions including the bootup piece, but then nothing. This is my first unbranded phone and I was excited about being the first to get updates for a change - haha - now they start doing branded first??!!!!

What exactly disappears off my phone when I do a master reset? Every picture, theme etc I've put on my phone is on my memory card. My contacts are on my sim card. I've put an old sim card in (which is actually inactive) and taken my memory card out.
Will it completely reset all the settings and also delete any text messages I've got on my phone? |

When you do a master reset you will loose anything that you have put on the phone.
It will be like when you first took the phone out of the box |

Cool. It said that it may even get rid of some of the stuff that was on the phone when I got it, everything I want though is on my memory card so should be ok. Can you download the default themes that are on the phone? I've got Clarity, hope it doesn't delete that cause I like it. |

Done the reset, everythings back to normal. Just tried taking a photo of a dark area of my room. The flash didn't even go off. Lets hope that was just a one off. |

For those having flash issues....
One thing I notice is if the lighting bolt logo is flashing on your screen, I believe it means it is charging the flash. So you must wait for it to stay solid. I found a lot of problems can be resolved if you wait a little. These are not point and shoot cameras like normal cameras. The mechanics and sensors sometimes need a little more time to get things right....
Just some thoughts...
ALSO - You are doing the halfway press, wait for the crosshairs to turn green, then press fully down right?

I have a o2 branded phone, which is like having a non branded phone as the only thing they change is the play now to o2 icon. When i do a master reset i keep everything, pics, themes, games etc
As far as im ware doing a master reset is like taking the phone out of the box for the first time |
