Too late for what ?
Its not like there are any real alternatives to the 808 out there.. the only exception being the Panasonic with that yummy sensor, but it doesn't have flash so its still a no go.
Everything else is inferior

A high end camera phone such as the N8, 808, or the 1020 will never have success for two main reasons..
1. Camera bulge. The mainstream does not like it. The media does not like it. Its never going to work.
2. A phone costing north of 600 euro better have an Apple logo on it.. otherwise it doesn't stand a chance. Apple owns the high end market.
So even if that phone was on sale 2 years ago, it will still be a niche product.
I do see your point as well. The longer they wait the harder it will be to sell at all

Well hopefully it will stay that way for some time. Unless Nokia / MS decide to bring out a WP replacement for the 1020.

Amazing but and Galaxy S6 Edge not a bad. I think Panasonic CM1 wins with little advance. Resized to 12mp and bright/contrast corection samples can see here |

It is a pity that in the current smartphone camera is not prioryterem as it was in the Nokia 808
Maybe lenses from Carl Zeiss or Leica would improve the picture quality of Samsung smartphones?

808 is better ofcourse - resize to same 16mp resolution as G4
LG G4 image is oversharpening , lens and sensor are pretty good

The 808 was about 4 (maybe even 5) years ahead of the smartphone imaging curve... so we should see something better or at least as good soon.
I suspect that we would have seen it already if Nokia was still in the game, but I really have no idea what Microsoft is doing with the PureView team and their R&D projects. |
