No it looks exactly how it should, just something is wrong with you.I can't understand HOW THE H*LL after SE announced so bloody perfect looking and nearly perfect spec-wise phone, somebody will always find unreal flaws in it and will moan about all the day.LOL I am really p*ssed off of such childish behavior.[ This Message was edited by: icaka on 2007-06-14 21:45 ]

I'll tell you a REAL flaw. Although SE makes increable OSE platforms this UIQ phone will have the SAME flaw. ok I'm browsing on Opera Mini or playing a game, and wish to make a quick call. Do I start dialing the number, no I cannot. I need to press the Shortcut Key, click on main menu, and goto my address book to pick the listing of someone I know. Sure I can kill one step with the Shortcut set to AddressBook but still its tedius. I'm used to it, but OSE phones - K790/800 etc - are SUPPOSED to be phones first. Now this gets slightly annoying when I want to dial a NEW #.

The newly announced K850 & W910 both have DEDICATED "Call/END" keys which I HOPE minimize any running app to the main screen to "DIAL A NEW #". This UIQ phone without using the touchscreen will exhibit the same flaw.

I just hope that if I goto the Call List screen, that shows my "Dialed/Answered" (Missed makes no sense for my suggestion here) #'s that I can side scroll thru the other numbers in my AddressBook for that contact. Since I switched back to SE from the BB Pearl I miss this 1 ability just 1! Constantly throughout the day I call my wife at work, but during the lunch hour she calls me from her cellphone - 1 contact multiple numbers. If I don't have her mobile # listed in the Dialed/Answered list I have to exit out and goto the AddressBook in order to locate the mobile # for her.

Overall though this W960 is an INCREDIBLE phone! Something I've been looking for. To be honest the placement of the scrollwheel looks odd - to me I'm right handed so viewing a movie with the wheel under the phone seems strange but I LIKE IT!

PS are Europeans mostly Left Handed?

Also that headset is INCREDIBLE! Reminds me of the Mini-Disc Recorder/Player days - full track & caller id information.

W960 does not feel at all as one may think. It is an advanced smartphone exactly as its predecessor W950, but now it feels considerable more normal. The menus, especially in the music player are new and heavely animated. Record covers and titles fly from the sides.

The walkman player menu really looks good on the big screen one is supposed to point at. To scroll, one simply drags the finger over the screen.
Admittedly, it did not work every time we tested it, but that is probably because the phone is not finished yet. It happens all the time here in Berlin that demo phones do not work as intended. But then it is around a half year left until they are found in the stores.

As mentioned previously, when selecting music one can scroll by draging the finger on the screen, but it is also possible to press a number button to move directly to a letter in the list. The music is synchronized with SE's music software, which also includes podcaster to which one can subscribe via that software.

The music menu is inspired by Sony's PSP with gray icons swooshing across the screen. They are shown in one column and selection is made by touching the screen. Generally they are heavely animated, which eventually may affect the performance as SE experienced with P990. Likely they have learned the lesson.

The software that imports ensures that album pictures are transfered as well when importing a record from the computer. The software is only available for PC and not for MAC OS. In the phone, music is shown directly on the start screen and a click there takes you to the music player from where more choices can be made among the tracks. Under the screen there are dedicated music buttons to wind forth and back and pause. At the bottom of the screen there are buttons to control other stuff.

As a phone W960 i really lovely and especially the slim form gives a charming impression and does not make it feel as square and business like as its predecessor. Despite that, it have all functions one can get in UIQ and includes things such as push e-mail and web browser.

The surface is slightly glossy and feels a bit piano like, black but with rounded edges. The memory in the phone is 8 gigabytes and one can fit a lot of music there. One can configure various modes to make the phone play e.g. happy music when one wants that and faster one when running. That function also could be found on previous modells. It is worth mentionening that wireless headset is included in the package.

Prom1
Yeah thats a problem but its a software thing that may be fixed in the future.I know it can be annoying, but its nothing to die for,at least for me.About the left-handed - no,just the opposite. When you use a TS device and you're right handed, you hold it in your left hand, while using the stylus with the right.
Btw,are you sure the calling problem is not solved in UIQ 3.1?It will be nice if they've done it.

W960i made me like again
After tons of boring phones and of releasing the same phone many times... comes up with a full featured model and on top of that it looks great (better than any N nokia phone) and comes with stereo bluetooth headsets in the package and 8gb! well done! is back!

@Bytes

Same Ram as the P1 and also same processor and graphics chip as the P1, P990, W950 and M600.

How did you know? Is it official? If that's the case, then I think it would not have DSP chip. we could expect the similar sound quality to W950.

the W960i sounds awesome. it's a pitty about the HSDPA, but i can deal.

i was wondering if the W960i actually has the shake control feature being advertised in the W910i? on sony ericsson's website it does indicate the feature is included, under the section talking about the walkman player, but there's been some errors in the specs/website, so i'm just not sure.

additionally, does the W960i have the horizontal/vertical view changer function? i haven't seen it listed anywhere, but in that W960i vid, it kind of hints at it.

and is there any more word on whether the W960i has the DSP chip?

even if it has none of these features, it's still an amazing phone.
