Even if its possible, why would you? It will be the least desirable OS if ever it happens..

Tommorow is a big day...

don't panic, not for phones geek, but for Hardware geeks
Tommorow is the AMD's HD 4870 day

any way, why this is here ?
coz, not just nVIDIA has powerfull mobile chips like GoForce, even AMD has ( with thier owning of ATi ), infact the ATi share in this market is far bigger than nVIDIA's one !!

they have the Imageon, this chip is for phones, it has much broader products portfolio than nVIDIA's ones, I don't know about it's power but the fact is this is compatible with wider range of products ( not like nVIDIA's APX200 wich is limited to Windows Mobile only ATM )

here's a list of mobile phones wich uses this Imageon
http://ati.amd.com/products/handheld/onboard.html

and Moto has the big share !!

Features for Imageon M100 Family
Fully self-contained video and audio processing
High resolution Digital Camera, with integrated Image Signal Processing
DVD-quality Video Recording and Playback
Full suite of Audio processing capabilities
Video Telephony Support
DVB-H support for broadcast video with multiple streams decoding (Picture-in-Picture display)
Integrated TV-Out for viewing videos and images on television set or projector
Highly efficient PowerPlay™ power management technology for longer battery life
Powerful multitasking capabilities allowing multiple multimedia operations to run simultaneously, to enable a rich user experience even in the complex situations that require the most processing power.

and BTW, these products are well known in CE industry, just search for AMD Xilleon wich is used in varity of CE like Digital TV's, Digital Set-top boxes, even in some progectors !! they use these chips for video processing and a lot of things including the UI of these devices...

I know nVIDIA has some powerfull products liek the chip used in PSP, but this does not mean to forget about other products wich maybe powerfull or give much better features/price/power ratio, and the last thing is very committed to do !!

I don't get it.

Eldar says the Moto ZN5 (Kodak phone) has Carl Zeiss optics. So can't Sony Ericsson do the same then?

'Motorola and Sony Ericsson have signed up to contribute UIQ assets'

Surely this standardisation is a good thing?

Somehow I feel you may be right there. Nokia is/has buying/bought the remaining Symbian shares and that probably made SE and Moto uneasy. My concern though is the newly released UIQ phones from SE, how long would they be supported software wise? It would be sad indeed if they were to give up on UIQ, I really love the OS and was hoping for one high end smartphone.

Ok, expect no more UIQ-phones... Symbian Foundation-phones are next. Hm, I guess we'll have to wait a while for them to surface.

Ah, "The Foundation is expected to start operating during the first half of 2009"... Just start waiting guys .

So, in the mean time, will there be more WM-phones from SE?

Actually Christmas 2010: "First complete unified Symbian Foundation platform release is expected to be available during the first half of 2010 to all foundation members"
http://www.symbianfoundation.org/files/WhitePaper.pdf

Interesting to note: "The Symbian Foundation platform will offer both exciting possibilities for the future but also compatibility with the past - to Symbian OS v9 and S60 3rd edition."
and
"A new platform is then to be formed from Symbian OS and S60 with selected UIQ and MOAP(S) technologies integrated."

I guess we can say goodbye to UIQ.

Yep, UIQ is cutting down most of its staff in Sweden and moves production out of the country (sorry, in swedish):
