I have had a K700i with orange UK for a couple of weeks now. It's running firmware R2C001. Is this currently the newest version available with orange? If not is it worth upgrading to a newer version what would be the benefits?

Please read the first page to decide if you wanna update the FW.

A question about contacts.

If there is only one phone number for a contact, is it possible to change it to mobile instead of home?

Should work by just writing the number in the mobile field instead... You can even copy it from the home field easily enough. Use "Look up" (left softkey).

@ prospect

I did read the first page, but i was hoping somebody could clarify for me. Am i right in saying that the operators offer their own versions of the firmwares, some may not be available to an orange user such as myself. I've also read that orange are quite behind on their updates, so the first page may not even be usefull as orange wont offer these?! So my original question is what is the most recent firmware on ORANGE, and is it worth it?

Hmm... I read in one of the threads (titled: K700 Phonebook madness) that someone has R2Y for a firmware and it has provided a more powerful search function in the phonebook which allows you to search more than one character. Can anyone else confirm this?

here's the link to the thread

I can confirm this, I have R2AA, and it has this (IMHO pretty damn basic) function at last. =) So it could have been inserted at R2Y point.

So, I assume R2Y is the newest firmware release or it's still pending and only R2L is available at the moment?

Hi all,

as the time is approaching when we'll have R3A (at least I hope so) I will give some more user input... the things I noticed about my K700 - R2L001. Maybe it will help.

1. Bluetooth is more stable than previous releases, but still there are occasionally bugs as I mentioned before. And some new (using it on daily basis with HBH600). FE: K700 and HBH600 are paired and connected. I answer the phone by pressing an Answer button on K700 and have a call through the handset not the HBH600. After the call HBH600 disconnects from K700!

2. MMS: I have delivery report turned on. Before I send MMS I do to advanced and check. It says Delivery report ON. The message is sent. I check the sent items, View Status. It says Delivery report not requested. In the end Delivery Report arrives and everything is OK, but just this small bug.

3. It seems that volume control doesn't have impact on Message alert. It is always very loud! And of course you still can not choose any tone which is shi**y.

4. When you put K700 on DSS20/25 there is no way to automatically change profile to fe. HOME. In acc. you can choose Desktop charger, but not DSS25.

5. There is still 1 second delay answering the call on K700i and R2L and more than 1 second delay when answering with HBH600.

6. Sometimes K700 doesn't want to connect to GPRS or send MMS. I have to try for 3 or 4 times. But this might me a network problem.

7. Funny thing about online update. I bought my K700 at official distributor shop in Zagreb, unlocked and unbranded... First thing I noticed is when I did master reset everything was cleared out from the phone, but there where 3 new accounts in DATA accounts and settings for GPRS and MMS for HR VIP(vodafone) network. I didn't mind it as I am on that network but... when I try to do online updating I got the funky message... Your operator does not support use of this service... So I guess SE by IMEI thinks that my phone is bought at VIP shop and the distributor just kept a few devices for themselves to sell them... Strange

8. I put BST35 Li-Poly battery from my wife’s F500i and gave her BST30 and the standby and talk times seem a bit better. I know it shouldn't but it does. Maybe it is just my subjective opinion. (BTW. F500i has the same bug with entering the numbers in Phonebook as K700 had in first software releases - soft. R2E - I guess it is whole platform bug)

All in all THE GREAT PHONE, but with many aspects that will hopefully be fixed in R3A. Hope this helps and that more user inputs will arrive and help this phone to be even better.

Take care

Velimir

PS. Croatia welcomes T-mobile in our GSM family. Yes and TELE2 of course. So now we have HR vodafone (HR VIP), T-mobile HR and the new one HR Tele2. Aint it fun?

R2L001 is the latest for most versions... for Voddafone branded phones R2V001 is the latest release

Well, These people claimed they have R2M from online updates? Is it because they debranded their phone? Or is there a R2M

@sieg there's a 10% improvement on the battery life since mine last 1-1.5 days before the upgrade but now last up to 2-3 days.
