I agree.
Love or hate me...

Nokia 5120 -> Nokia 6120 -> SE T200 -> Motorola V800 -> SE W800 (stay with my wife) - > SE K800 (stay with my mom) -> Nokia N82 Silver -> Nokia N82 Black Edition - Firmware v30.0.019 -> What is the next??.

Really your a design student from your posts i could of sworn you were a bad comedian for sure.

The C905 a design classic LMAO it's a firggin big square brick to house the sensor needed for 8 meg's. It's also very similar to the now getting very old N95 but of course with a much smaller screen and oh so many less features. Plus with SE's recent releases it may not even take better pictures but we will need to wait for it's release and what half a dozen or so firmware updates to know for sure.

G900/G700 may well look good but for mid 2008 they are certainly well short on the features side as no HSDPA in a smart phone is pathetic. They are again nothing more than minor revisions to the first UIQ3 and mid end devices at best. They will also only take sales away from SE dumb phones, real smart phone users will look at their outdated spec's and laugh. They aren't a threat to any other manufactures smart phones and that's why there prices are so cheap as they are just not worth anymore in the market place.

Ah Marc,

God knows where you derived that i'm a 'bad comedian'...

Incidentally Marc, you should have said "Could have...". It's not "Could of"... Of is a preposition and in "could've" (which is what you mean) , the "ve" is a contraction of "have". To add to that, its 'their prices' - not 'there prices'. Maybe if you spent less time mocking my design perpective/views, as well as less time aimlessly mocking Sony Ericsson's Portfolio - and more time in school you'd know this.

Marc, you are, in my view a respected Esato member - and I would not shy from asking your advice - I view NightBlade in the same light. Please, let's not let that go to waste.

I've never cared much for design myself. I actually found the W800 quite ugly (and still do), but I bought it anyway because of its functionality. Never did regret that purchase in any way.
What matters is the usage, and the C905 looks quite usable to me.

I only have one question actually: How the frak am I supposed to pass time until its release?

Hmm, maybe I'll switch my N82 for some other device to try out.

@Sony A

Apologies for my grammar but at 48 i left school some 32 years ago but due to pain and opiate medication posting is not as easy as it should be and i make mistakes. After all i never said i was perfect.

I'm afraid the rest of my comments stand as SE is just not the company it once was and is taking a long time getting back there. To the disappointment of not just all the SE fan boys but many of us others to.

The thing is so many SE fans just can't face reality and still believe that SE is just the best always despite all the facts that quite clearly prove otherwise. I can't remember a time before with so many complaints threads about SE phones and so many members that now use a non SE device. All of this along with the fact that SE are now 5th is not a good sign how can it be. The lack of the appearance of a top end UIQ device and SE launching a WM device with all we want in UIQ even though they own UIQ also isn't good IMO either.

Marc,

You make a valid point - I agree, under Miles Flint's reign at Sony Ericsson - or indeed to the back end of his reign - things got bad, what with the K850i and W910i. Sony Ericsson is a far cry fom its T610 days (from which the 6300 took ALL of its Design cues lol) - the K850i was an absolute Shambles, as was the P990i...

For me, Sony Ericsson are a company that mean new ideas, fresh approaches and innovation - while that perception of Sony Ericsson stands with me - it may not do so with others - but as I said, its my Perception - not reality at the moment. Admittedly, Nokia knocked Sony Ericsson off the pedestal with the N95 - and the N82 is a top notch device. Here in Japan, Sony Ericsson are one of the most respected names in the mkt - most probably because of Sony Corp. being Japanese et all.

With Hideki Komiyama at the helm now, Sony Ericsson seem to be making strong headway, and we will be seeing the once innovative Sony Ericsson, given a new lease of life!

Once again Marc - I respect you as a fellow community member, and as a Londoner too!

However - the E51 may be impressive - but Sony Ericsson's new G900/G700 are examples of super-slick design, coupled with great functionality - now there you cannot disagree..

that's why i put quotes in "fanatics". i'm a gadget fanatic myself. i resepct both SE and nokia devices for what's it's worth. i also respect windows mobile manufacturers like htc, o2, etc.

the g900 and g700 are both symbian uiq, i can't say anything bad about the design. it's just i prefer the series60 vs symbian uiq. but wait, the e51 is more than a year old and the g900 and g700 has just came out of the market. i think i don;t need to elaboarate on this.

hey don't get me wrong, i'm still using the old k800i still remember and i do love this phone? in the java phone/camera phone segment, for me, SE is ahead of nokia. but in terms of smartphones, SE is playing catch-up. well the new G-series hopefully will bring them back on track.

Bunch of crap. Don’t you even realize that almost all your posting peppered with smileys?

Just because you beloved Nokia doesn’t come with smileys then you say no need? What a hypocrite

Just like nightblade and mr_lou and others, I also enjoy using smileys while sms-ing. I doesn't kill not to have it, but definetely a plus to have it integrated seamlessly in UI

Design-wise I personally prefer c905 over N82 anytime. I find N82 ugly thats why I ended up with N95-8GB.

To judge C905 now is way too early. As mentioned, need to step back, relax and see if it is really worth the hype on its final version.

In the mean time, try to live with your N82. It is not a bad idea. It has a good camera. Some compromise on UI is needed.

Smileys are certainly good addition. BUT I certainly would'nt take smileys over VGA video, 5 MP, smart OS etc found in N82. And if you care to READ properly without your SE-tinted glass, nightblade and mr_lou (and now you ) make it sounds like the world is coming to an end when the phone do not come with smileys. Why do SE fanatics like you like to stoop so low just to defend a SE at whatever cost. My gosh, you could at least find some better excuse instead of using smileys.

I wouldn't waste too much time "debating" with mib1800. He continuesly ignores what's posted, and make other claims in our name.

"You don't want it because there's no smileys" is a typical example of this, while the many other reasons I've given just somehow disappears from his world. So let me (once again) throw up the list with the things he asked me to tell him, about what things I have in my beloved W800 that the N82 does not have.

- A radio that has good reception. N82 does NOT has this, despite I tried two headsets (which btw both sucked)
- A mediaplayer with the basic stuff you'll hear many people complain N82 doesn't have. Alternative players doesn't work with the headsets with playbuttons etc.
- SMS functionality such as smileys, and date + time on the SMS in the folders. N82 does not have this
- It's possible to control volume on my Java games, fantastic.
- It keeps power for more than a day. Amazing.
- Much better Java abilities with a much bigger market offering much more games and application than you'll see on the Symbian market, and thus also a lot of freeware.

mib: I can do you the service of posting this list on each page, to help you remember.

I also proved that the amount of offered Java games are like 10 times as much for the W800 as for the N82. It's all on this page of this thread:

You call me a hypocrite (without even looking at the context of the discussion). That makes you a jackass.
