I took the flip off as it makes the phone too bulky. I was expecting the FO phones standby to be the same as with the FC standby. So that with the top line of the QWERTY i could dial a number, set my own shortcuts on it.
But NO.
All you can do is use the four FIXED shortcuts.
Bear in mind, this is fixed in the m600/w950 standby screen. Also, Symbian signing for UIQ 3 cost too much for a UIQ3 developer to fix this kind of bad design. SE should have made the FO standby as an enlarged version of FC standby. This is one of my main issues with this phone. |

Few shortcuts (or key combinations) I have found useful to minimize touching the screen. I use the phone in FO mode. Some of you may already be using these but here they are anyways –
1. Speed dial: Press and hold the space bar to launch phone application. Use the top row to enter any speed dial location (1-9) and press enter. The phone will speed dial the person. The shortcoming – you have to remember who is programmed under which number.
2. Launch Messaging application: Escape out of everything to go to the activity menu screen. Press the side dial twice, Messaging application will be launched.
3. FM Radio: Changing stations – press the media button to switch between preset stations
4. Confirming deletion of messages: Normally the OK button does not get pressed with enter button or with the side dial. Once you have deleted a message using the menu (alt+cap sequence), to confirm deletion of messages, simply use the OK button, it works.
5. Accessing the Contacts: In the activity menu screen, press and hold any key, the Contact list will open.

Some good shortcuts there.
I've decided to touch. So getting around isn't that much of a problem.
ps, I tested your change radio station and made a discovery;
YOU CAN ALSO USE THE BUTTON ON THE HPM-70 TO CHANGE RADIO STATIONS TOO Woooo!! Sorry didnt know that one! Like on old nokias! Wonder if it works for music too, got no music on it right now.

Hi all.
Does new firmware make it possible to put phone in Silent mode with some hot keys in Flip OFF? Are there any tips to make it quickly?
Thanks for your answers.

When I installed new firmware with the flip off, I read online somewhere else that you just use the letter "c" on the keyboard. I did this, and it seemed to work ok. |
