Yeah, you have to play with the settings a little. Specifically, turn off 'halt on crc error' and turn on 'force cloning'. Also, if you're cloning to DVD, use 'no compression' even though it uses more disks. Much more reliable!

I only ever use the boot floppy for cloning drives, I don't use any of the windows application's automatic backup features.

Just to see what happens, have you tried right clicking on the iTunes.exe program or shortcut, selecting Properties, clicking on the Compatibility tab, and checking “Run This Program As An Administrator.”?

Ok

I had a little look into it and it appears that itunes 7 and vista don't get along very well

But try that anyway, you never know...

Vista itself is very stable but lots of programs and hardware still don't like it very much, especially the x64 version.

I'm planning on staying with XP for a while, put it that way...

To be honest, that's what I'm doing

I've got vista running on one of my PCs but Dreamweaver cocks up, paintshop pro cocks up, the sound card only works in stereo, not 5.1, you get the drift...

I think it's fine on brand new machines but even relatively good hardware from a year ago or so doesn't always like it at all.
