Where do i start with this? after reading a rather large post on depression u lot are getting me down!! x
Life is so much more than you are finding it right now, and I understand all the people my age going thru exam stress and family problems, at this time in your life it seems make or break, and some people break. A good way i found to deal with things is to write it down, physically get it out your system and see the problem in front of you. At the end of the day an exam isnt worth getting yourself ill for, and if you've written it down it might be easier to leave for family or a friend to read, they will understand where you are coming from and it may explain your previous behaviour. We all make mistakes and some people may find it easier to hold a grudge than others, but its easier if things are out in the open. I used to find it really upsetting to hear what others thought of me, and hard to understand why it was a problem for me to be distant and detached from the outside world... but i found one small thing to enjoy in life to begin with, myself. If you can learn to love yourself for who you are then other people will begin to see that in you too, the guys chattin about not having girlfriends, hmm, well i cant see you having happy and stable relationships if you arent happy within yourself, relationships are based on trust and to a certain extent happiness, if you go ou tlookin for a girlfriend right now you are probably more than likely to find someone with the same or worse take on life as you are right now, which isnt what you need!
Depression is horrible, ive felt it on a small scale myself and seen it in a full blown state within my family, if you can learn to control suicidal feelings, self harm and detached moods it will improve your life drastically. this change has to come from YOU, you have to want to be able to help yourself and deal with your problems in a responsible and adult way.
Remember, life is what you make of it, what you want to do, anything in the world is within reach and nothing can stop you if you have the drive and ambition to do it. There is so much more i want to say, but i think im going to bore you all if i carry on, so PM me if u want my msn x
Keep smiling. x

Lots of suicidal people aren't depressed. Self-harm is not a symptom of depression. Detached moods are symptomatic of many illesses and personality disorders.

You make depression sound like a lifestyle choice rather than the illness it is.

What has that got to do with a mental illness?

Well put Lucy.
Sometimes the changes do have to come from that person sometimes, in the case of clinical depression, medication is needed to stabilise that person's mood.
But a person has to take responsibility for themselves and thier actions, with the help of family, friends, or mental health professionals to assist them on that journey and offer support and guidance.

By reading so many of these posts i get the impression alot of you are mistaking depression for just feeling down, there is a big differance. Depression can be caused my anything and sometimes no matter how much you try you will need mediation to make yourself better

Precisely. Feeling miserable/sad/down is not necessarily clinical depression. Feeling low is a natural reaction to negative life events, etc.; depression is a medical/psychiatric condition. |

One good way of dealing with depression is to stop bleating about how depressed you are on internet forums, go outside, and breathe fresh air.

Meths, have u tried Blue Train??? put a slice of bread over a glass, then pour meth spirits through the bread... then drink up!!!!

At the risk of taking this off topic, does brown or white bread have better filtration qualities?
p.s. i reckon young Ryan might be right.
