its getting to the stage where shelling out an extra £100 or so to get the tomtom go 300 is looking favourite.

the go looks like a fantastic product. package wise you get all the same features as with the mobile edition, traffic info and speed cams are an extra. Good size screen, seperate device. Looks like a sweet setup.

If I had the cash I would have gone for one i think. Looks like the best aftermarket plug in system around.

Been using TomTom GO for about a year now and am looking to upgrade to 700, which looks fantastic. Can't speak highly enough of it, my only criticism being that the signal is very volatile in the centre of London (or anywhere else where you're surrounded by tall buildings).

Problem is, even when the UIQ version does get released, I'm sure it won't have all the functionality of the most recent GO version so you're playing catch-up with what is already available. And, aside from that, I really don't see the point of Sat Nav on your mobile. It's pretty impractical for the majority of uses (although no doubt someone will wheel out some obscure example ) when a portable plug-in system is better all round.

I use Wayfinder and find its excellent. Gets me around without any problems. I dont use the maps much as it costs money to download them but the voice guidance and on screen prompts are fantastic, it does what I need. Avoids traffic, tells me about road works and avoids them. I would love it to make my tea but it does what its supposed to

Only downside is it has to use the phones speaker as the SE dosnt support the port for audio. No matter what program, the hardware and OS dosnt allow this.

I guess this is a question for Nils, In the guys above review of Wayfinder he says that the voice instructions can only come from the phone speaker not through his handsfree speaker / Car Stereo etc. Is this going to be the case with TOM TOM and Route 66? And if it does only come through the phones speaker has he found it loud enough in every day use?

As the following post says you cannot get the pxxx audio to come out of the port, the hardware/os only allows calls to come out of this.

The best solution ive seen is to use a Belkin Tunecast or similar device. This little thingy ma jig plugs into the audio port of the Pxxx and then transmits whatever is coming out of it over the air to your radio. You just tune it in and you get the audio. No wires, no fuss.

A) TomTom Mobile 5 is the same as the Go... same look etc. (in landscape mode)... also different voices, mapcolours, POI's in TTm5 ready for download... navigate with Ozzy Osbourne, Bush or your own girlfriend's voices, don't like the map colours change it to your own wishes. Are you in a area you don't bought the map for, just download it. Interested in all the traffic jams, or watch your speed for speedcams download it via Traffic.

B) Just a few weeks.... Personnaly I think it is there before july!

C) The advantage of a navigation programma on a smartphone in compared to a Go you will always have it in your pocket!

Can't be spread at this moment, I think I don't spread it because when we are allowed to do we are also allowed to spread the review which would be better. I have photo's of the presentation but my dad made them and they are not made on the perfect moment.

Dear members,

I heard from Nils that there were some questions relating TomTom
Mobile 5 on UIQ. If you have any please let me know.

To give some clear distinction about the package for UIQ:

It works the same as all other TomTom Mobile products. It even works
with the handwrite recognition and the keyboard. You can fill in data
using both.

Furthermore you can choose between portrait and landscape modus.
The package is really stable and works really fine. The speed is good
and better than Wayfinder. Traffic goes via GPRS and a special
package you need to take at TomTom.

The rest is the same as the GO 300. Nothing else! Only the screensize
is different and you have some different (extra) features that is all.

I used the package on the user day on the 14th of may for some time
so I know what it can do. Really nice build. The guy from TomTom told
me it would around June when we should see the package.

i think unless the phone is in your face whilst driving, the screen will be a bit to small to read properly?.

Great picture! The screen is large enough in my opinion. This is also a nice picture:

Only one question:

What use is Sat Nav if you can't see through the windscreen?!
