I'm now tired of that word Religion...for me now it only stands for one thing Hypocracy...and thats about about it!

All i hear people saying is my religions the best, mines the best,my god is the true god blah blah blah...Like who cares anyway?..If their is a just god he will jugde us for our actions in this world and not for what brand of faith we chose to follow.

Blimey, I think I should offer Vanquish one of the handbags that I offered Upper in the other thread!

You're not the only one with a day off upper, so have I But I did work the weekend though I think we've picked a good day to have off though

In an attempt to get back on topic, I am not a religious person, I am too cynical and questioning, and the damage that religious extremists (I include Bush in there as well as 'Islamic' extremists) can do by misinterpreting or interpreting their own agendas into religious texts (which can be quite ambiguous anyway).

I do sometimes wish I was more religous though. I sometimes envy people with religion's source of comfort, the entity they have to blame if things go wrong or pray to, and their ability to trust - have faith in - something they cannot see.

How did religion get associated with war and judging people?

When I went to an Apolstolic (Christian) Bible College for a 16 week Discipleship Training Program in 1992, we were taught all about FORGIVENESS!
Hear that y'all? Forgiveness is the basis of Christianity.

theres an example on how war starts by religion... when people are not open minded.... i may feel offended by axxxr remarks... but im cool and open, coz thats how Islam works... to be patient and find a better altenative on approaching this matter... all i can say is, if only individuals like ourself is open minded and patient the world wud be a better place... but we're not perfect tats why religion is among us to guide the way of life... Fighting and war is not part of religion.. therefor its individuals selfbein, why?? coz they lack of religious, if only we all are religious.. they wont be any war.. coz we all do wat we're suppose to do... but bein religious is an issue.. as some dont believe it, some dont practice it.. the lack of religiousness causes war to occure.. if Bush is religious we knows wat hes doin is wrong.. Ladin is religious.. but fellen to the wrong practice.. which he probably made by himself.. Quran never state to fight or war.. therefore both lack of religion, thus war occures.. hope i state tat correctly..

And thats it in a nutshell
Oh its all so simple really... Fancy that, a muslim and a christian agreeing on religious doctrine and providing an example for everyone else.

not surprising really since the doctrines aren't really that far apart in the first place.

Not that old 'All Religions are the same' chestnut again...
It's like saying "All Asians look the same" or "All Africans look the same". They don't and we're not. But we can agree on major points and that gives us something in common, which is the starting point for many a friendship...

Back to my theory on wars (not that I've experienced any):
Most wars are motivated by the desire to occupy someone else's LAND. For example: England vs Northern Ireland, The Falklands war, Israelis vs Palistinians, The 19th century NZ wars, Kashmir, The 1991 Gulf war (which liberated Kuwait)... etc. Religion tends to get a bad rap mainly from those who aren't religious. A case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, perhaps?
