im sorry but this is ridiculous. when are this stupid threads going to stop. i thought esato was a great forum with friendly atmosphere and excellent expert help, all these threads do is degrade esato and destroy its credibility. isnt it time this thread is closed. just accept p800 will never be a p900 or anything else just be happy with what you got or buy something else.
ps dont you think scotsboy would be a great mod?

If nothing else, I just think it's funny that Boinng still thinks these people have managed to get UIQ 2.1 on the P800.
Hasn't he looked at the step by step instructions on how to fit a P900 into a P800's casing? |

Who said that UIQ.21 can fit into a P800? Not those two bastians of truth, Swithcblade and Energetic. Please say that your faith in the fitting of UIQ2.1 into a P800 is not hanging on their words. Please, for the love of all that is electronic, say that you have another source(credible that is). Those two are totally unreliable sources. |

Switchbitch & Energetic's claims, whether true or not, are irrelevant; the facts that have come out in the resulting threads still change things. Yep, there's alledgedly still a memory issue (assuming Switchbitch made up the virtual "E" drive, which is actually a plausible theory) - but then that argument is based on the size of the entire SE firmware upgrade files for the P900, made up of a lot more than UIQ alone. Can UIQ 2.1 itself, or at least a slightly tailored version of it, fit into a P800? Why not? The P8 can accomodate (and run) camcoder, V-rally, even the new "Opera for P900" (which comes in an install file called "P800_6.30_305.sis"). Meanwhile, it seems a few things we believed about the P900 were wrong. So you tell me - just what makes anybody so sure of anything right now?

What tailored version of UIQ2.1? Why would you want a tailored version. If you have a P900 then enjoy it and be prepared to complain that SE screwed you by not allowing you the opportunity to upgrade to the P1000 and UIQ 3.0 for free. I am only pissed about the 2 processor lie. They lied about this and this is what makes me angry. Not the magical upgrade from the the two posters that seemed to have vanished as quickly as their upgrade claims. Second, does anyone really care if UIQ 2.1 will fit on a P800? You still have a P800 with the crappy touch screen rather than the electronic keypad. It just appears that people will not be happy no matter what happens. If SE gave away free upgrades, people here would complain that no one from SE came to their house to perform it for them in person. This is by far the largest group of whiners and complainers that I have ever seen about something that just does not matter. |

But you're making the same old mistake of equating ''i'd like UIQ 2.1" with "i want my P800 to be a P900''. it's not that simple. i have a P8, i like it, and i'm not in the market for a new phone. but if my P8 can run a newer, better OS - and benefit from smoother video, better bluetooth support, integrated communicam & video recorder, etc - then why wouldn't i want that on my phone? why wouldn't i want the opportunity to buy all that, like any other software? |

I think l may have found a way to end this farce. There does appear to be a way one can upgrade to UIQ 2.1 My sources inform me that SE imagined that P800 owners would want a way to obtain UIQ 2.1 Craftily SE sent out P900's to shops across the world. The secret is to go in, ask to buy one, hand over some money and hey presto, UIQ 2.1! Now don't go telling everyone about this or they will all be at it! (wink!)

AAH Thank God, I can write something before this topic is closed....
So, someone said, the screen in the video is black.
I looked the video up several times, but I can not say, the screen is black. It reflects very strongly and seems to be gray some times. The black could also be the reflection.
Second, these videos are absolutely no clue. It could be real, why not ? But, I think the real strange thing is, he did not give real clues.
If I would be successful in this, I would spread the detailed info how to do it anonymously all over the world. Or, if I would like to make people crazy, I would make some real high-res videos where noone can say anything. But everything he did, was to do those bad vids.
So, Switchbitch, if you did it, then spread it. I can not see a reason, why a person, that owns a P800 and a P900 shoud not be allowed to install the P900 firmware on the P800. Does anyone of you see that ?

Has anyone considered that switchbitch may not be able to divulge his information due to restrictions imposed by the agency he works for, as by doing so would jeapordise its complicated and tightly regulated cooperations with data communications organisations? Lets say he is involved in electronic eavesdropping as part of an anti terrorism unit, for example. Close relations would exist between his organisation and network operators/ data comm. establishments throughout the UK, to ensure full access, and in some cases control, of EM broadcasts nationwide. Of course, individual agents would be subject to close scrutiny by their government as part of the high security system, meaning all personal communication and transmission by that individual would be monitored to some extent. Now supposing he goes and pisses off sonyericsson by announcing to the world that uiq2.1 fits snugly in a p800. Its a small offence, but highly subordinate and very consequential. Anyway i dont know him and this is all conjecture.

Just to clear something up, with what someone said earlier in this happy little post... I commented (numerous times) in the topic which contained the video link, and was indeed detrimental to the claims of the poster... to this I make no apologies or u turns!  it was a load of bollucks plain and simple !
I also picked up on this jealousy argument... please, give me credit, or I shall have to enforce copyright law on this one! ... that will mean that you will never be able to afford the P1000 when that comes out, but I will, due to something called redistribution of wealth...
And as for the right to free speech, as quoted at the beginning... Whilst lovely in theory, I am more for the "Shut the hell up" school of thinking... !... encouraging such madness will just give mother-in-laws worldwide the right to nag until your ears fall off...
Boing (i think it was you, and i know that I have probably spelt your name wrong), You are correct in saying that there would be another post like this one, if this one were shut down... You miss the point though, dear friend... If the kind moderators would happily shut this one down , to end this particular saga, then hopefully they would act quickly to close any subsequent ones withint minutes knowing what will be the result of their inaction...
Moderators... you surely see how topics like this mess with this site, and are generally destructive to all concerned... I myself got a little worried when I was informed to "try again later" to view page 4 of this very topic... I can't be having that... I expect a certain level of service from this website... and I believe this little glitch is the result of the incessant shite found on this topic...

I am entitled to voice my displeasure over seeing similar topics like this over the past few days :
STOP IT !! A P900 is a P900 and a P800 is a P800. Cant u see that simple thing ? U retarded or sumthing ?  Sheesh... sooo insecure...  So, the P800 is not top of the line anymore... so what ? Live with it ! U cant expect to keep adding stuff to it so that it remains at the top of the food chain all the time. Its not like u gonna die or sumthing ?! Rite ? Count your blessings. At least u are fortunate enuf to own a P800. Think about the others that dont even have food to eat. At least u are not sufferring from Aids or Cancer
