They do seem to be hinting at a new camera tech, and using eyes.
The change the way tweet shows someone looking into a reflection, could be a clue at it being "like the eye".

That's true, however as I mentioned earlier Sony Xperia US Twitter account tweeted "Discover the next generation of smartphone camera technology" that pretty much confirms new camera technology.
Also Zackbuks just posted "expensive beyond imagination" which further hints the device is using expensive new technology.

All the teaser images point to a special camera lens or sensor. My bet is on a curved sensor.
Sony has been developing it for years. 
I do hope it is 1 inch though, single-lens camera or else the curved sensor won't matter much to consumers.

All these hints could point to liquid lens too, as that would be similar to the way the eye works.
