if anyone is still following this thread ...
I keep hearing that Rogers AT&T in Canada does not have support for GPRS where it affects the email send/receive from the T68i.
Has anyone heard anything about when/if this is ever going to be enabled/set up ??
Thanks. |

leibniz,
I'm in Saskatoon... Rogers does indeed have support for the T68i email features over GPRS... I have confirmed this with others, including the SE rep, who uses it regularly. The catch is that you have to sign up for a data access plan (not mobile homepage), which starts at $20 CAD / month for 1.5MB. It's listed on the website as Portage Plus, but I'm told you don't need all of the cables/software... just the service. This is over and above your voice plan.
So if you're willing to fork out $20 or more per month, you can do it...

@derinh
Thanks for the info. I guess the data guy I spoke with at the "help" desk wasn't up on all the Rogers offerings. He just told me point blank that it couldn't be done. "We don't have support for that", he said. (What a moron.)
It certainly isn't worth $20/month. Maybe the price will come down in time. Meanwhile, I'll work on a GSM data connection to my own server, maybe I can get my email that way.
Thanks again for the info. I am in Regina, so I'm sure that whatever Saskatoon will be able to do on the network, we will be able to do as well.
Bill

SE T68i
SW: R3A023 (got the phone 2 weeks ago)
Carrier: Rogers AT&T
Location: Calgary, Alberta
I also bought the Jabra Bluetooth headset. Works great for answering calls by pushing the button on the headset...but try and record voice through it...doesn't work worth a shit. I have read tons of threads on 'how to record voice through headset', but it still does not work. Either the headset ends up sounding like a broken record repeating what I said over and over, or the phone locks up completely and I have to pull the battery. I have given up...I am hoping this 'lock up' and method to record into the phone via BT headset is fixed in a newer version of the software. I am in the process of trying to find out who can update the software for me.

Hi all.
Location: Montreal
Phone: T68i
Version: R3A (full of mushrooms....)
Looking for place to LOCALLY flash new firmware.
I do NOT dare to send it to Ericsson as last time they got my phone for repair it took them 6 (six!!) month to return it. On my books Ericsson service in Canada is NON-EXISTENT (till they convince me of the opposite!).
Great phone, but in Canada I need your help!!
a) does anyone in Montreal flash T68i's on the spot?
b) does anyone know the firmware version that is available in Canada now ("supported" by Rogers or not, who cares). If yes, where?
Thanks for pointers in advance. Y can email me too.
