in reality, you'll find that SE are responsible for none of them. SE has never invented anything
first colour screen - siemens
first bluetooth - ericsson (not SE)
first touch screen - LG
first phone with mms - ericsson
first phone with video playback - ? (the world first video streaming phone was by samsung in 2000, before the existance of SE)
you haven't got a clue

I thought this was a thread about why we buy an SE over other brands. Not, a Bash-SE thread. Some guys have no work to do, but prefer to spam every thread that comes their way.
I have been using SE for the past 5 years. I tried a Nokia in the meantime. The phone was slow, the sound quality was pathetic and the Ui was a mess. Samsung and LG dont even come into the picture. A mid end samsung takes ages to open a file, and while multitasking, i try taking a nap before the application switches. aka Samsung 270 beat.
And you have no other work to do other than bash nokia. Pretty much all points you listed are the same crap every one writes about samsung and nokia and people who have NEVER owned them. I've owned samsungs, nokias and SEs, trust me, i know more than you. You base your opinion off of a phone you might have had ages ago.
sound quality pathetic, ui was a mess blah blah WTH ever!

Yea right Mr. Know-it-all. You are the only one who has used many phones and you have to be right in your assumptions. I live in India, where all the phones get released pretty fast, and I have die hard Nokia friends who pick them up pretty fast too. Samsung and Lg are a far cry here. Hardly see anyone with a high end samsung. I dont need to justify myself to u anyway. |

Are you serious? LG was maybe the first with the touchscreen phones we have nowadays (Prada), but SE was defenitly earlier. Think P800 and the likes |

there was a touch screen device before the R380 ?
and your right, i should have written (Sony)Ericsson, which i actualy ment because SE evolved from
oh and according to wikipedia mms is introduced with the release of the t68i, which then got bacported to the t68
and by invention i should have written: "put on the main market by", to bypass the siemens s25 (colour screen) and the samsung (video) you are talking about. this in favor of the t68 and the p800.

I disagree that premium headsets out of the box is all they have going. Try plugging HPM-77 out of a W902 box into a 'DSP' equipped, multimedia powerhouse N96 and compare. You'll then have the epiphany of how little you know.

Or an epiphany of how little YOU know. Get an unbiased pair of headphones and try out N95 or N81 or N91 or N85 with any SE you want. i dont know why people think pumping bass suddenly translates into good sound quality,
W902/W760/W980 against N95? Oh wait, N95 has dsp so no contest there. Pffh...there goes the 'sea' of knowledge you have.

I wont say I will stick with SE forever cos when it sucks, it suck
Certain SE model like k850 sucks. That doesnt mean all Nokia are winners.
I own Nokia, SE, Samsung and LG and use them all. SE A200 wins in design, simplicity and user friendly UI, faltered in memory paging issue. Nokia S60 wins in additional applications of smart UI but faltered on friendliness. Samsung wins in built quality. LG I dont really like it. Its touchscreen sensitivity sucks.
SE price is high? Well if you can afford it, why not? I have no issue with price.
Design wise, I like selected model of SEs (Idou, W995) slightly more than Nokias like N97. I find 5800 ugly. I find Iphone design nice though a tad to big for a phone. Sound wise I like G705's beter than my N95-2

I don't think anybody really gives a flying f*** about who came out with what first because what's important is now and now is the time for manufacturers to keep pumping out innovative features that SE AND Nokia failed to do in these recent years, but the thing about it is that while other manufacturers bring out new features in maybe one or two phones, SE and Nokia wait a bit to expand their portfolio with many more phones featuring those features so people will have a choice, which is why Nokia took so long for its touch screen and 8MP phone imo. |

Ericsson R380 circa 2000 though it wasn't SE at the time. First mobile to use the Symbian OS too according to Wikipedia.
Actually found an older esato thread on the first touch screen phone topic :

my sea of knowledge is enough to drown you my man. All new nokia phones have DSP or some sort of dedicated audio hardware acceleration! No SE phone ever released had any DSP.
Take the very cheap 5320 against W902 which is twice the price, 5320 wins hands down.

Even the 5310 beats SE's in audio quality. |

I wanna know if anyone here would choose W995 over Nokia N96, or Idou over N97? ( I know itīs hard to put Idou here because itīs still a prototype with no defined OS or UI, but just for comparison)
I just wanna know if people are actually planning on buying future phones or the situation for is actually gonna get worse. |

W995 is decent, but the menu keys look pretty tiny and uncomfortable looking. The kickstand makes the design more complicated also. People would buy W995 if they don't mind using a dumbphone OS while people that go for the N96 has a lot more freedom. I'd actually choose the N97 if i wasn't looking for a camera and I kind of doubt that the 12MP camera on the Idou would produce spectacular results anyways. |
