for me sony ericsson blew it on its walkmans . sony ericsson walkman design and specification . sony ericsson could put a normal keypad like k800i or w800i or w660i but no it put those painfull w880i keypad when playing games on it you find your thumb is red and cant they put the led lights for the phone camera and good speakers and good keypad .sony ericsson you lost me as a customer for your bad keybad and bad specification on it and by the way sony ericsson is not doing its best on building a phone that you can say im holding a phone. low specification and bad keypads i would like to ask sony ericsson why did it first build a w880i and then just change the keybad for w890i and give it a 3.2 megapixel with no autofocus and no led light what do you call this a phone .i call this low achivement on the phone and do you think people are going to say wow . i know i wont .because theres nothing new . sony ericsson is going worse and worse. from 2006 -2007.because of its low specification and design im looking now for a good manufacture phone.

@Xx_Magic_xX & all
How can what any other manufacturer do have any relevance when we are discussing SE and the simple answer is none, no one cares what anyone else is doing as quite simply two wrongs don't make a right!
As for this perpetuated myth of how terrible the N95 is believe me SE would love to have such an expensive disaster that sells 1 million units plus per quarter and is still selling well. If you seriously believe that amount of people would all buy such a terrible device at such a high price you quite simply have to be mad. Yes it has problems and yes a lot of them are due to being branded and not getting the firmware that fixes them. Which when it applies to an SE phone makes it OK but not Nokia some one please explain how that works then?.
Some of you who defend SE it is just laughable you slate other manufacturers for lesser problems and justify worse problems in SE as acceptable, which is just a Joke. If SE are still so good why are so many leaving then? Why are there so many threads and posts of complaints. Really you are just like SE you ignore everything bad and just carry on no wonder SE is losing support and customers.
If SE doesn't stop this behaviour soon and change they have Zero chance of becoming number 2 as not only are loyal supporters leaving but new users will not return. It's all very well blaming branding but this is still how the majority of people buy their devices with a contract well at least in the UK it is.
It's like you are all on the Titanic saying it's unsinkable and it's only a little hole from the iceberg we hit and look what happened next.
Marc

Dogmann do you think somebody is going to buy a phone with bad keypad and no led light for the camera and no auto focus correct me if wrong why is sony ericsson bring the k660i,w890i,w380i with no led light and no auto focus for camera.w880i that had bad keypad for games and message is now being replacet by w890i se has fix 1 of 3 problems w890i no led light for camera no auto focus for camera what do you think some people are going to buy a phone with messing specification . i will tell one thing the w800i came out it had full specification and it was a walkman series why cant sony ericsson do the same thing to it w series answer that please.
and maybe the w890i will have a low speaker like the w880i which is bad for a company that produces a walkman or music phone.

@deaf
agree with u, SE 06-07 really doing bad, no innovation at all, and no complete phone for it class.
I miss a time when SE launch p800, k700 until w900, it can beat other brand with their spec and price at same class. Hope SE back to it own way next year. |

Its as if the W900 started all of this, it was a great phone with very high specs for a Java phone BUT had SO MANY bugs and got discontinued in less than a year of being in the market, then everything started going kind of sour for SE with K800s dying, W850 bad build, and UIQ3 phones buggy firmware. I wonder how SE let this all happen, W900 was the 1st case where Firmware support was dropped so quickly and they dropped the phone and people had paid so much for it and they totaly left their W900 customers stranded i think thats where SE REALY blew it.

i have two things to say i have seen nothing from sony ericsson 2006-2007
modules walkman phone are at its worse i mean what then new w890i has a keypad changed with no auto focus or led light just 3.2 megapixel and the walkman 3. come on sony ericsson do you think we are going to go crazy for it or jump no because you want people to pay for your product either it good or bad well were not going to pay for your product tell we see the good product "with auto focus with led with good speaker and top platform and good keypads " if you cant i want you " se" to say to all the people and customer that you are only ripping of your customers into buying the product and telling your customers that your product is the best when it is not. Sony ericsson either produce good products or bye bye se. |

Its interesting that some people are now just realizing that Sony Ericsson sucks plain and simple.
As a long time Nokia and Sony Ericsson user it had been clear to me since 2004 that Nokia is the mobile phone champion.

lol..guys guys...its only a few operators that are offering faulty sets..in india here..all sets are quite hae and hearty..
and btw guys..hav u noticed...the anti k850 posts havnt evn crossd hundred..and the numbers are also due to sum frustrated guys who dont kno how to handle a camera, are no audiophiles and anti-se s...nokia makes some awesum phones..but please..both of them have a class of their own..dont comapre them..and nokia camera phones never have been and never will be a match to the sony ones...
just waiting fr the new firmware
peace
How can you say a few operators are offering faulty sets ? You think SE supply the crap ones to certain telcos and the perfect ones to others ??? Don't think so. And NO the operators software additions make no difference to the camera.
What a load of toss... I KNOW how to handle a camera. Been using DSLR's for a long time. Film before that. The K850 camera sucks. Images have way way too much red in the images, especially if the scene is bright. Cannot handle blue correctly at all.
Audiophiles ??? The N95 audio output is on par with iPod. Use it in the car all the time now and it sounds great. My Logic 7 system would really accentuate any hiss or distortion, it doesn't because its not there.
Anti SE ??? No. I bought SE for years. The last decent phone they made was the K800... since then its all been plastic tacky fashion phones in the Cybershot
range. Casing on some of the Walkman phones has been inspired, but being SE they limit the camera. No way will SE offer a best of class music AND camera phone. They want you to go one way or another, not both. Crazy marketing bull thats driven customers away.
Agree that certain models fit in certain classes. The N95 is the only one that is truly a class or three above any SE model. SE's smart phones are all business and carry crappy after thought cameras and music players. At least Nokia have the skills to produce a smart phone for business that also handles media properly.
And that last statement... Nokia camera phones will never be as good as SE ones... RUBBISH.
How come I had to have FOUR K850's and still did not have one that worked correctly.
I've had ONE N95 and its been impeccable.
Just waiting for new firmware - LOL, wait on.
Nokia have issued a minor release and a verision 2 of the N95 firmware in the same space of time that SE have issued NONE.
<----- The K850 on the left is pants... gave up after 4 faulty ones. Nokia N95 now and its the dogs dangly bits |

And if folks are finding P1i the best thing since sliced bread, let me be very candid and say that I found even the lowly Nokia 7710 more reliable, intuitive, and faster to use than the P1i.
SE has really blown it.... |

not too interested either with se's newer models so i'm also putting my upgrade options aside for the meantime.
anyway, i'm still very much satisfied with my year-old k610i. it does what i want it to do.

Call me a fanboy, whatever. I'm still keeping a small amount of hope that SE will come through. For now they've blown it!

Agree
N95-8GB is not without weakness, but overall it is a value for money if were to compare with K850.
All is not lost for SE just yet. Just dont launch too similar sub-quality buggy products again. |

Hi all
Just reading the N82 preview over at mobile-review.com and although most of you will have seen this or be aware of it i thought this quick table summed up perfectly the "N82 vs K850i" argument (or lack there of). and further reinforced the subject heading in this post & SE's very poor 2007 showing with their prospects not looking too good for 2008 either?
Nokia N82 SonyEricsson K850i
Size (mm) 112x50.2x17.3 102x48x17
weight (grams) 114 118
Display 2.4", TFT, QVGA, 16M 2.2", TFT, QVGA, 262K
Memory 100 Mb 40 Mb
Memory cards microSD microSD or M2
Battery Life 1.5-2 days 2-3 days
3.5mm jack On the casing Adapter required

Flash Xenon Xenon + LED
Video record VGA, up to 30 FPS QCIF, 15 FPS
Stereo-speakers Yes No
Platform S60 3td Edition FP1 A200
Price 450 Euro 450 Euro
What strikes me straight away is that the K850i, as SE's flagship camera/imaging phone the N82 in my eyes beats it (or at least equals) on all fronts: Screen size, colours, lens cover & video recording in a lighter phone that costs the same price!?.......then add into the equation the N82 is a smartphone.......no contest really is there? |
