No dust on mine still. Its nice and snug in a case which must help. I took a risk being an early adopter and have been lucky so far.
The worst thing is though, if you have to take the back off the phone to clean the inside of the glass then its no longer 'factory' pure, which is annoying. Good luck guys!

So what view does Sony Ericsson and / or the companies like O2 take? I worry, like someone else has already said, that it's going to get far worse in the 18 months I've signed up for and surely will affect the picture eventually. It basically just isn't protected enough! |

Have worked out how you guys can fix your problem with dust inside the optics of the K850 caused by infection of dirt from the loud speaker.
Use a vac on the loud speaker and it will clear the lens of the camera and get all the crap from the loud speaker. Have tried this and it DOES work, no need to take the handset apart. |

wow, hope all that vacuuming doesn't rip out any mesh netting on the phone
so far, my 2 week old phone shows no sign of dust in lens, i keep the phone in my jeans pocket all the time, and we all know how much pocket lint is always present.

Has anyone else tried the "vac solution" and worked? Now I'm afraid to buy the phone.. |

using a vac will certainly help, have done this with all my phones, esp with k750 which solved the joystick problem. |

the dust IS NO PIC QUALITY ISSUE....its just anoying.....(it will not make the pics worse..maybe if you have a lot of dust of course, but if you only have some super small dots..it dosent make any different.
just look inside a real camera sometimes, (between the house and the lens) !!!!..its many dust dots, but it dosent destroy your pictures....
i use this socks..(like a protection for the screen)..very good quality, you can wash them hundreds of times, the doesnt get larger, they stay perfect.

Same problem here. For about 2 months, no dust spec. But yesterday I've noticed that under the Glass cover are few dust specs. WTF!!! I usualy keep my phone in the pants pocket, and now just like that, there is dust. They didnt affect quality of the pictures, but is very annoing to see in that place some specs of dust. I will go to a service to open it with special tool.

Has anyone managed to remove the dust themselves without having to go to a Service Center (are there any of these in the UK)?
I tried taking the back cover off to then realise the cover is stuck down with glue! Didn't want to pull that off as I may not get it to stick again.
The bit the cover sticks to seems to be screwed down with really small screws, anyone know what screwdriver they would need?
Thanks. |

I've used a screwdriver size T5 when I've opened my K850i to clean it.

Hi dante,
Did you manage to clean the lens cover? If so how did you remove it from the inside casing? It seems to be stuck down with glue.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already and they're are too many posts to read back on but.....
The most common reason for dusty screens is because people keep their phones in the same pocket as tissue paper!
It won't matter what phone you have, the fibers still get in
Just a thought

@ alexlindley
Hi. I've just pulled harder (I tought will take out the whole casing and camera lol). Is not glued there forever.
@ Scorchio
On my K850, I have problem with dust only under glass lens cover. All other parts of the phone are clean. I keep my phone alone in pocket...and there's no dust.
Anyway, i've just recently bought a little some sort of bag (see in picture) for mobile phones, and my K850 fits there prefectly.

Did you put the lens cover back on or didn't it stick back once you had taken it off?
Does it get annoying having to take it out the bag thing all the time? |
