the phone platform from UIQ 3.0 to 3.3 is not that much different so the update can be done, but this doesn't mean every UIQ 3.0 phone will be update to UIQ 3.3 ( P1i or W960i for example ) as it will take too much R&D for a dead already phone, Paris is P1i successor and W960i coming already this year so it's pointless to do such a big update ( UIQ 3.0 to UIQ 3.3 ) for a device that's already succeded by new version !!

Just wait until our beloved modder flashing it into P1 & W960

... or the phone may have more memory, say 160Mb compared to 128Mb, thus allowing UIQ 3.3 to have more functionality, grow without affecting performance?

typical ignorant american mobile user
Stating THAT without knowledge of what else SE is offering is ALSO ignorant. Without being able to properly brand and fix bugs, yes BUGS on the K850i AT&T Pulled it at the VERY LAST moment, stock was already READY to be shipped to stores, store channels already had print & billboard adds in house, then an EMERGENCY add pulled it.
offerings suited for North & South America ...
* SE K850i (only subsidy is in Canada; retail though is offered)
* SE W580i (retail or branded - BEST seller to date for ANY carrier or model by SE for this region, EVER)
* SE W350 has yet to get awarded subsidy.
* SE W760i STILL has yet to ship ... SE is LATE on this!
* SE Z750i old but STILL relevant, Triband 3G, A2 platform, decent cam for average call Id shots. Great MODEM speeds!

apparently you are not in the know with american users otherwise you would have fully understood the comment as my other fellow americans did.
The fact is the vast majority of american users are ignorant of actual GSM phone offerings. The only phones people know about here, are the ones that are offered by carriers. If it's not offered by a carrier, it doesn't exist. In addition, sadly, the phones carriers have are usually a year or two behind the rest of the world and this is the case undoubtedly due to taxes and regulations which slow the process.
* You can chaulk this up to Qualcomm and providers like Sprint/Nextel, Verizon, and Alltel - focusing and still pushing CDMA technology. Many phones are specific to this technology from Samsung or LG, and a few others - debuting phones first for this tech. However, the majority of phones debut on GSM first then almost 8mths - year later (example being the BB Curve; yet they did get the 8310 not the 8300)! Coverage is another factor keeping users on one provider & limiting range of phones then another. Major reason is phones are STILL designed for Europeans first & foremost by many manufacturers; jsut look at 's growing, existing, and past product range and see just how many ignore the 850mhz band.

So, do not insult me because you didn't "get" my comment as my other fellow americans apparently did.
EDIT:
In addition, some of the models you listed are not on any carrier. Some of the models you listed do not support the american 850 GSM band, which already LIMITS it's ability to receive a proper signal. True that T-mobile in the US uses european bands, but it's also true that T-mobile is known to have the worst signals out of all the carriers.

@ moogoo; ALL the models I've listed above support the 850mhz & 1900mhz GSM/GPRS bands, so I don't know how you missed that. Sorry that I didn't "get" what you meant. I was under the understanding that Americans (incl Canadians such as myself) were not ignorant to cellular technology or phone offerings, just that they are not marketed to us as heavily as in Europe nor negotiated to providers with such vigor.

Eldar was right. An update to 3.3 really took place. I remember gliatiotis mentioned that his paris prototype had only 75MB free RAM after he ended all tasks. Eldar's UIQ3.3 updated version managed 96MB free RAM
@Xajel
why not rapidshare? having trouble identifying cats and dogs?

its those placcards that tell you when a release is look at that nearly 3 weeks before the even we know, so there NEVER needs to be idle speculation as SE is pretty forthcoming with their event information.

nope, in ME we have a lot of difficulties downloading from RS, it uses IP's to identify users with more than 1 download, but the problem here in ME is most countries will give each user his own IP, but this is only wihin the ISP own's network, in internet; me and thousend of users will have same (Virtual) IP, so if only one is downloading from RS, thousends will be prevented from using RS as RS see all of them as already downloading !!
so basically you have a chance of 1 of some thousends to download from RS...
even if I subscribed to RS, I'll be blocked in no time as RS will see that I'm downloading too much !!
I was a technical in somehow a large forum ( 30K+ users ) and I saw all vistors ( hundreds ) uses only two or three IP's and the rest are from other countries each has it's own one !!
