well, guys. Some other question from me: Since C702, C902, G502, G700 and G702 (girly style phone) don't seem to be what I'm looking for in my possible next phone, there's only G900, Paris and X1 left. Paris has GPS and Wifi which I would like, but I guess it'll be overpriced and I hate sliders cause they are so thick, there's only X1 left which seems very interesting, but will be much higher priced than Paris. So, G900 seems to be good for me, but it lacks GPS! Does anybody know if there will be a G902 and what the difference to the G900 will be?? What I basically need is a decent camera (about K850i level), Wifi, GPS,Quadband if possible, UIQ, touchscreen (I don't care about special music functionality). And all that in candy bar form factor (relatively thin); my dream would be a clamshell with these features, but SE will never bring a really good clamshell. Basically, I need a G900 + GPS + a good camera (I think G900's cam is not very good).
AFAWIS ( As Far As What Insiders Says ) in this case Eldar, Paris will priced very close to G900, mmm 50Euro maybe ( G900 is rumered to be priced 300 to 350 with 400 Euro price tag for Paris ), some says Eldar mentioned that Paris is the G902 even thought I didn't see that or didn't expected that, but the pricing may put it all together...

I knew about that GPS headset before. But the thing is, that I need to attach it when I need it, which consumes space and battery power (can't plug in the phone into the car charger with the GPS headset plugged in). Also, isn't it the case that the GPS headset only works with that trial version of wayfinder? What I'm looking for is a GPS built in or that headset that would work with like offline maps on a memory card in the phone. So that I just load the maps and software on the card, and when I need it, the software routes me without additional costs. If Paris is about the same price as G900 it may be worth considering it, but again, it's a slider. I never had one and I think they are uncomfortable. I like how thin the G900 is and Paris would ruin that advantage. Does anybody now about a good G900 test with the final hardware handset and that shows camera pictures and their quality? |

GPS capability is not a HUGE concern, although it would be nice. Just because a phone contains GPS ability, does not necessarily mean it will work well.
I use a Hollux bluetooth GPS adapter with my Z710 and Wayfinder 7 (lifetime license for $99). My hollux detects satellites with a cold start of less than a minute. It's extremely accurate and i think is 32 channels. I'm not a huge fan of wayfinder, but I wanted the voice navigation and the 3D maps, which a lot of the free software did not support. Also, I was limited with what I was able to use with my phone.
Once september comes, depending on the offerings, I might go for a G900 or G902, depending on the prices. ideally I want to have a super high-end flagship phone, but I don't know how long I'll wanna wait for that. I can live without GPS cause I do have the bluetooth adapter, which I think works great and is only the size of a small thumb drive.
With my lifetime license, I can transfer it to a UIQ enabled phone and download maps directly to my phone's memory for use with Wayfinder.

Hasnt been able to? What are Sony a bunch of clowns? What are Ericson people who communicate with paper cups tied to strings? These people know their stuff. Of course they can. If they havent its because they dont want to. And if everything is such a downgrade and nothing is ever as good as your P990, why are you even here :S. Obviously there will never be another phone you will love that much :S. Please go give it a hug instead of trying to bring down everyone here with negative comments.
If I was to hug a phone it would be my P900
I know it's hard for some people to face the truth but if you are serious about S/E guys knowing their stuff than there is no hope left for that company.
Also, why can't you accept the fact that all this criticism could be to get SE back on the right track? You are missing the point here, the P990 is not a very good phone but since 2+ years SE has not done any significant improvements whereas its competitors seem to be leaping forward with each model. It's time to see the truth...
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

as promised, the so906i bravia phone (and so706i) was announced this afternoon
3 things that are applicable to european market
1. the further integration of accelerometer and on screen controls (not just UI)
http://www.sonyericsson.co.jp[....]i/function/motion_control.html
2. tie-in with home AV products, in so906i's case, BD recorder
3. flashy light effects that synchronizes with the accelerometer |

I see where youre coming from mate, and I agree with you. I know a friend who had a P990 that recently bugged out on him. If I were in that situation too, I would be annoyed. Im still waiting for a good flagship to replace the phone I have. Im also tired of waiting (which is probably why Ill go for Paris in the end). But I suppose SE chose to go in a different direction. For now at least. Youre right that the P series has taken a dive since then, but still, look at how K and W series have shot up, I think K850, W910 and W960 are great products on the whole. I think SE acknowledge the mistakes of the P990 and are now cautious about the UIQ software and the hardware used for it, thats why I think what they want to do is wait for the new UIQ to come out, develop with that afresh, with proper hardware, then make some great devices and go from there. It makes sense. |

Looks cool. Short video though . I was hoping to see more evidence of UI enhancements from UIQ 3.3. I like the options which looked larger and more 'finger friendly' than before. Good signs |
