A site says the last two difigits following an hyphen on my IMEI number are the software code for the K700i I am using.
Does-it mean I can have a different software ?
Why and how ?

I guess it resembles your phones manufacturing date, not very sure though, if someone can give us a correct info.

I believe it is more a question of software version

Xybito if ur sure and want to share the info, you can post a link to that here :-)

It is a software version number, the name of the 2 digits being SVN. It is not part of the IMEI, but can be appended at the end. If your phone has it, then it is transmitted to the provider together with the IMEI when requested (at phone power on, for example).

Want additional info about IMEI and SVN? Google is your friend

The imei on the label is always 2 digit shorter as shown in the fone, many ppl got confused cos of it even in services as my friend told me.

IMEI is 15 digits long, the last digit being a checksum of the 14 others. This checksum was added about a year ago in a new definition of the IMEI. SVN is added at the end of the IMEI and is not used in the checksum calculation.

Once in /// fones the imei showed what country the fone was made.
