@ JN... LOL

only know that we humans have 7megapixl eyes

Posted by *Jojo*
@merovingian - Whaaaat Do you think that our 20/20 vision has only an equivalent of 7 mp If so, then by year 2005, Digicams will be outdating the 'sharpness' of the human naked eyes As I know, there are already releases of digicams which has 6 or even 7 mps out in the market

Posted by Merovingian
yeah, it's true... I read it in a swedish magasine (M3) and they said that human eyes equals to 7mpxls

Posted by *Jojo*
@merovingian - Thanks for that info mate That will be added to my brain's 2 MB hard disk, with 0.11765 memory, pentium 0.0836753

you're welcome

I am short-sighted... just sees around 10 cm (four inches) without my contacts. But WITH my contacts my sight is very good. My optichian (or whatever you call the person that checks you sight regulary) says that I see twice as good as an average person. I am among the three sharpest of his customers (and he has many...).

The power of my lenses are right -5 and left -5.25 dioptries

And yes, I read a lot: http://folk.uio.no/kristaga/bok.html

@kristaga - Ehem, that's 'Opthalmologist' mate . Good thing that you have your 'contacts' with you - via celfone

Posted by Sammy_boy
@kristaga - my eyesight's roughly the same as yours - I can see fine with my glasses on, but without them things are going out of focus less than a metre in front of me!

I think the angle I sit at my PC's wrong as well, as my neck sometimes hurts a bit after being on the pc for a while.

Would anyone consider laser eye treatment?

Cos i bloody would not

When im tired it's a struggle for me to read anything like tv across my room w/o glasses and when ive been staring at a pc from 8pm till 3am like now I get a headache!

Luckily I don't have my own connection @ home to the net so I only use the pc weekends!

PS> THATS A NICE PIECE OF KNOWLEDGE THERE BOUT THE HUMAN EYE BEING 7PIXELS THANS FOR THAT LIKE JN I'LL TRY AND STORE IT SOMEWHERE

Posted by vinnieza
sigh, do they have to affect our eyes

I have a feeling my eyesite is getting worse from being on the PC i better stop or slow down on it anyway to stop it?

I have to wear glasses, I want a pair of titanium ones cos they are so light, but i can't afford them.

As for laser eye surgery I can't even afford dream about it.

Good to see you all talking about the industry I work in.... Just scrolling through the forum I will try and answer a few questions..
Laser/Lasik/PRK I would avoid that like the plague, I have seen one to many customers come back and complain about the problems they experience after the sugery. The most common is flashing lights when you close your eyes, and also very dry eyes. I would also like to point out that you will never rid yourself of your glasses as you will still be very myopic (short sighted) after the sugery.
But the worst had to be this guy I saw who was punched in the face, and the lid of the eye opened up, it was really bad...

Ok now for the 20/20 vision part. If you have 20/20 vision, you can see clearly at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. If you have 20/100 vision, it means that you must be as close as 20 feet to see what a person with normal vision can see at 100 feet.

Ok I am boring you all, but keep your eyes safe guys remember you only have 2...(some of you might have 4 )

P.s you eyes DON'T see in megapixel, but in GIGAPIXEL..(dont ask me how much because that I dont know)It all becomes to technical after that, and you will probably need to speak to a brain surgeon to break it down from there.

I can't read a book at more than 20 cm without my glasses !!!! It started when I was 8/9, so for my case it isn't the pc, it's just in the familly and I'm thinking about making the laser thingy as I'm sick of it

Posted by rrojas260
I have a 20/30 vision without my glasses and i think is my computer, i had a 20/20 vision four years ago when i didnt use the computer too much. Well i can reach 20/10 with glasses and in a few years im going to trade my glasses for a laser ( i cant do it now because im 16 years old)

Posted by Jezzaj
eyes were fine till i returned to studying and now i wear glasses.cant work on the PC for more than 30 minutes without me specs

I've worn glasses since I was 3yrs old (still got my first pair).

Had an operation when I was 15 to correct my right eye (by doing something to the muscle behind the eye) but it had the opposite effect and has made my sight in my right eye worse. After the operation I always saw double vision everytime and couldnt see past a meter or read any text.

I learned to focus my vision through my left eye and can consiously switch vision between left and right eyes (my optomatrist says its a rare thing for someone to be able to do but is known about) instead of seeing through both eyes at the same time. My sight has got better in my right eye since the operation but I had to start over again with strong lenses. If I focus hard enough with my right eye I can make things out but still have a problem with text.

I recently had my eyes checked and was told I had a 20% loss of vision in my left eye and a 60% loss in my right eye.

Because of this I ended up paying a little over £300 for my new pair of glasses which are the memoflex type with anti glare, and have spectra-chromic tinting to the lenses and they help with the other problems that were happening due to my eyesight (very bad headaches, dizzyness etc).
Vision is ok wearing them but I hate wearing glasses. I cant have contact lenses anymore cos my last pair (white coloured) damaged the outside of my eyes thus making it very sore to wear them and I now also have to wear goggles when I swim ( great thing seeing as one of my jobs is a Lifeguard)

@Staz081277 Being able to focus with one eye or the other is not that rare. All fighter pilots have to be able to do that, one eye is kept on the instruments and the other on the monical viewfinder. It does take alot of practice to get the muscles to work like that.

With regards to the loss of your vision in your eye (60 percent) thats pretty high, I would suggest if you are really interested in wearing lenses for your work then Moorefields Eye Hospital might be able to help you out. They pionered this technic over the years (and you can ask your optician about it) They will stitch a contact lense over your own lense allowing you pretty good vision and not having to worry about the pain. I would see a speacialist about it, as most opticians hate the thought of loosing bussiness to sugery and laser.

I´ve got contacts...

Posted by maddav
I've got 20/20 vision, and a neat little fact from my old technology teacher, the human brain has a capacity of about 3-4 TB (Terabytes).

Posted by Lynx69
I wear contacts. I have to wear power -2.00 contacts or glasses, i dont know how bad that is

Posted by Elrond
I used to wear glasses 2 years when I was 10. I don't need them since them. It got cured.

Posted by Merovingian
@snowbear: wait a second, and I'll find it out for you.. dunno which one
