so, im right now downloading ios8 from itunes............

you guys who already has ios8....please make a comment

Posted by AbuBasim
I loaded it on my iPod Touch 5 last week. Visually not much difference compared to iOS 7.
And no WiFi problems like reported on iPad. In fact my iPod hangs on to WiFi signal much better than any of my phones.
The manual exposure adjustment in the camera app is cool.

ios 8
¤ new cool camera functions
¤ sms message way better (you can send voice sms and other cool things)
¤ nice new hardware bounded apps
¤ overall very quick OS

Works very well on the 6 .. I have the 64gb version and I had about 52gb free out of the box

Posted by difenbaker
I think I'll wait for the next update before putting it on my 5s.
It seems to be very buggy atm.

It doesn't need to be very buggy.
It just need to work well and this isn't happening.

???? say who.... some guy on the internet...there have NEVER been a software update without some guys complaining......and you will always find people who say the update works good.

engadget reviewed ios 8,0 .....8.8 of 10.......thats freaking high.

Performance and battery life

Let's begin with performance. In all Apple A5 and Apple A6-based devices, we found no difference in our Geekbench or GFXBench CPU and graphics benchmarks between iOS 7 and iOS 8 (that list includes the iPhone 4S, 5, and 5C and all but the newest iPads). That's not a surprise; these are mature SoCs and there's probably not much software- or driver-based optimization left to be done at this point. CPU scores from the Apple A7 are likewise identical.

What's changed are GPU scores from the A7, which are consistently up in OpenGL ES-based benchmarks by a small but consistent amount. We observed this on both an iPhone 5S and a Retina iPad Mini; our results are below.

well, that's true... no software release is without problems, especially a new one at that.
But if you read the article, its just not "one guy", its from a number of twitts and from the apple forums...

anyway, here's more...

... anyway, these are by no means 'conclusive' and I aint recommending to anyone that they stop downloading it. But based on my experience, most iOS versions, tend to get 'stable' after an update or two....usually, the first ones out the door tend to be a 'work in progress'.

just my 2 cents.
cheers!

The slower adoption rate is mainly due to it taking too much space when you update OTA .. if you hook it up to a PC and do it that way its fine, but there are A LOT of 16gb iPhones out there that can't update because they don't have the room.

Here is the review from the apple fanboiz

Try the OS instead of guessing.

You find as many forums and reports who say ios8.0 is badass

What you afraid of ??

If Engadget gives ios8.0 8.8/10. Is very good.

The Biggest thing with ios8 is that my 5s respond insanely fast.

When I press at message app it change unbelievable fast
So as many other apps. You guys will see what I'm talking about when you upgrade.

It's like somehow apple have optimize the 64bit CPU on a much higher level.

It's actually incredible how fast ex email app respond. It's like 0,001 sec.
When I write this on esato, The 5s keyboard is hyper fast and respond insane.

I've use ios6 ios7 and now ios8
...........and iOS 8 is so much faster. And I'm not even lying.

.....one would naturally expect a new OS to be faster.

Still haven't updated my iPad 4 yet, when I get enough time I will, for now, very happy with iOS 7.1.2, it's stable and fast. I use my iPad heavily as my Calendar, Diary, Web browser, Social media browser and Gaming device at work, so I don't want anything unstable, I think I may even wait for iOS 8.0.1, as I've heard the Facebook app and some others crash a lot, I simply cannot take a step back as my iPad has been running like a well oiled machine since Day 1.

Posted by plankgatan
Well. That's nothing you should listen to. Facebook have not crashed (yet) on my iPad Air or my 5s.

The only thing I slightly notice is that the battery time is slightly shorter. But it perfectly normal and logic. The CPU A RAM works a bit more on ios8 and therefore eats little more power.

Facebook seems stable on my ipas air and iPhone 5s. (Well now the iPhone is sold-as I got an ip6).

I couldn't see those huge improvements in speed - maybe it is slightly faster but then in certain places is feels choppier as well.

One thing i noticed was that safari doesn't seem to reload as in iOS 7- I don't want ri be jumping the gun too early though

Between now and my last post iOS 8.0.1 went up, got downloaded, a ton of complaints were made WRT TouchID no longer working and no Cell service and so was subsequently pulled.

Quit playing stupid, Apple themselves admitted the issues in iOS8.0.1 when they took it down from the server, that's the same reason why you are not seeing it.

You have reached a new level of blind fanboy, trying to deny the issues Apple THEMSELVES have confirmed.

If plankgatan is still using an iPhone 5s he probably hasn't experienced these issues in iOS 8.0.1as they seem to affect only iPhone 6 and 6 plus users as far as I have read. Certainly my 5s has no connectivity or touch id issues on iOS 8.0.1

Again, quit playing stupid, I am talking about iOS8.0.1, are you not capable of reading properly? iOS8.0.1 Apple THEMSELVES said that iOS8.0.1 caused TouchID and reception issues

Again, we are talking about iOS8.0.1

Apple apologizes for iOS 8.0.1 issue, offers a temporary solution

From Apple themselves:
We have a workaround for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. Affected users can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes, for more information visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6487. We apologize for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days.

Wise move. I myself, have always been apprehensive of first versions... like I said in my previous post, they tend to be a "work in progress" kind of software. Which is why I always wait for a couple of updates first before I jump in.

However the problem keeps happening 😤

The only thing I've noticed with SMS is that voice SMS was a bit slow.

I did a full reset (hold home button with on off button) after that it became better.

Apple will fix that in 8.03.

Ps. The new voice SMS is damn cool. I use it every day.

iOS 8.02 is here.

Fixes an issue in iOS 8.0.1 that impacted cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari

The update itself is 1.2gb. BUT takes a whopping 3.6gb on your memory with everything installed.

Cred to Apple to fix it that fast. I read somewhere that Apple coding people have been working nonstop around the clock to fix this.

I can also confirm that 5s works great with iOS 8.02.

iOS 8 woes continue with Bluetooth problems

iPhone owners complain about connectivity issues, especially in cars

By Matt Hanson
2h ago

iOS 8 woes continue with Bluetooth problems Users of iOS 8 have been reporting some nasty Bluetooth bugs

Apple's mobile operating system iOS 8 may be having problems connecting to certain Bluetooth devices, especially in-car gadgets such as stereos and navigation systems.

Users of iOS 8, which comes preinstalled on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and can be installed on older Apple devices such as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, have been taking to forums and social media to vent their frustration over problems connecting to devices via Bluetooth.

Jades, a member of the MacRumours forum, described the problem. "Connected my iPhone 6 to Lexus Bluetooth. Works for Bluetooth music but no Bluetooth phone calls. Phone indicates it's connected and sending audio to the car but absolutely nothing."

Not long after the first post another member provided their tale of woe, indicating that the problem might be more widespread than simply affecting the new iPhone devices. "Happened to me with iOS 8 on a 5S... just had to restart my phone and it started working."

Across the internet other Apple owners piped up, many pointing out that there are a range of issues involving Bluetooth. Along with issues pairing devices, there have also been reports of problems playing audio over speakers, as well as devices being unable to automatically pause the car's music when a call comes in.
Temporary solution

The problems have been reported for both iOS 8 and its recent update iOS 8.0.2, and is not just affecting Bluetooth-enabled card, with issues being reported for headphones, speakers and more.

According to Cal Bryant (@oddsocket) on Twitter "Bluetooth is a *mess* on iOS 8 - ending a call on a headset can cause sound to fail until BT is toggled [on and off], BT keyboard misbehaves too."

Some people have found that a temporary fix for the problem is to log out of iCloud, forget all connected Bluetooth devices, resetting all settings, then restarting their iPhone, repairing via Bluetooth and logging back into iCloud.

This solution is far from ideal, however, as not only is it fiddly and time consuming, but yet another bug in iOS 8 seems to affect the Reset All Settings Option, causing iCloud to lose certain documents.

These further bugs further blight an inauspicious start of iOS 8, with Apple already having to hurriedly release an update to fix earlier problems with the operating system.

A future update, iOS 8.1, is already in the hands of app developers, and apparently fixes the Bluetooth problems, though we're not sure when it will be made available for everyone.
