I liked the product... Only the Battery and CPU could be more powerful

Posted by hihihans
A bit boring to look at. You'll need a nice cover to spice it up.

Posted by Bonovox
The G2 having had one was an amazing device with excellent battery life until KitKat update killed the battery life. This looks really beefy but am worried about all those pixels on the screen having an effect on battery

Posted by Tsepz_GP
S801 + QHD = ME NO LIKE. Was expecting the S805.

Battery still the same size despite the larger display, no mention of a MicroSD slot or water+dust protection either.

Expected a lot more from LG. I'm sure it will sell well with a good marketing campaign, I see no point in Samsung launching the S5 Prime now, they must just bring the Note 4 and crush everything for this year already.

I wonder how well S801 will cope with QHD??

Posted by Tsepz_GP
It should do a decent job as it can handle 4K video, but I think the G3 may begin to show a bit of strain next to a GS5, Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8 when pushed hard.

Posted by Gitaroo
1080p was the sweet spot for S800 chip, QHD will give us an idea how far ahead is the S800 for FHD standard. I think this is why G3 was announced much later, probably waiting for QHD screen to be readily available.

I would love to get hold of those circular widgets, very nice.

LG is underated and now they are something to be reckoned with. Another recent source shows it does have an SD slot but I hope that wasn't the Korean version only. And 32 gigs should be the minimum if there isn't.

Watch the unvailing of LG's latest flagship right here with a live stream from from their press confrence in London

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFPZO2fcAUo

The G3 specs are all but confirmed: 5.5" QHD IPS display, Snapdragon 801 CPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 13MP shooter alongside a 3,000mAh battery.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
Anybody curious on how the "laser auto focus" will work and what are the chances of you blinding people in a group shot.

Posted by DexterMoser
^Haha.
I'm curious if the camera sensor is any different than the one on the G2 (apart from OIS+ and that laser).
Not saying this is bad, but I just expected more (like 16MP or bigger sensor).

Posted by Tsepz_GP
I just want to see if it really has 2GB RAM instead of 3GB, if so, then I'm totally put off as I'm already skeptical about how well it will run on a S801 chip with a QHD display.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
Wonder if it will be a Sony sensor in there with ois+ thrown in for good measure. Possibly the same one used in the T2 Ultra I'm not sure who LG use for their camera tech.

They say the 32 GB version has 3 GB RAM, 16 GB has 2 GB RAM. Dunno why.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
It looks like only the 16GB version will be available in the UK they have no mention of the 32GB version anywhere on their website.

Posted by Bonovox
With an SD slot 16 gig is enough for me I would never fill it up

Posted by DexterMoser
There's no enough!
I need MORE!

Posted by XperiaJunkie
Is anybody else not dubious about the battery performance. I know LG done a great job with the G2 but the G3 has a larger a much higher resolution screen with the same battery capacity 3000mAh.

Whatever it is, its small.. so don't expect much. If I had to guess.. right up there with the 1520/Z2/GS5

Posted by maiaramdan
honestly for me
in all not impressive (camera less than the other 2014 flagships, with the same SD 801 and 3GB ram)
so really normal top notch with even less camera and battery also less or same as the One (M8), Z2 & SSGS5

except in 2 things
the bezels i die for those bezels
the QHD whatever said about the need of it or not, and how much it will take from the battery

Posted by northmonkey
Camera sensor on this i believe is 1/3.06" which is quite a lot smaller than the S5.

I don't see the point of any screen under 7" or 8" having QHD, it's probably suited to tablets 10" or more.

I was surprised by the lack of fingerprint scanner and water resistance too and the battery life won't be good, they should have put a 3500mah battery in with that screen, not too keen on it really, I wouldn't buy it.

Coming to ThreeUK

In all honesty I would wait to see how well it is received in reviews and consumers alike. I do wonder if 2GB of ram would be enough for QHD but the 3GB one would be although it may not be in all markets

I was right about the sensor size, 1/3.06" which is very small, the S5 is 1/2.6". I think DIS or EIS isn't that far behind OIS anyway, I've seen videos where the S5 DIS outperforms the LG G2's OIS I think PhoneArena posted it too.

Sony IMX135 is also in the Galaxy S4 Exynos Octa and LG G2.

Interesting that they didn't go all out on the camera.

Overall I not impressed, as I've said before S801 + QHD just doesn't sound good, overtime I can see it being an issue.

Bring on IFA.

You are wrong... HTC One Mini 2 does not use Sony image sensors

The front camera of One Mini 2 uses Samsung (S5K5E2) and rear camera uses image sensor Omnivsion (OV13850)

Oh and I'm a bit disappointed with the G3 specs, too. But I'll look into some early experiences if LG really can make a difference with these specs.

I don't want to stress you anymore, but how's multitasking with the S5? Do Apps tend to reload?

Posted by Bonovox
@DexterMoser no not at all have had absolutely no slow down or lag or no apps reloading. This GS5 is really a nice breath of fresh air from Samsung. Am not overly fussed on the G3 yet anyway want the price to drop and to read reviews and experiences from users. And yes I am planning my year ahead now and need a break from changing and spending on phones. I've come to a point where they all seem samey and let you down one way or another somewhere. Can't be arsed anymore

3GB RAM is now the standard and should be going forward considering:
screen resolutions, game size and data for maps, polygons & other demanding graphical components
SD 801 more than capable; anything better that is tangible to you or anyone else will be on a 64bit cpu.

I'd trust the IPS HD type displays (last gen I'm sure) or future iterations from LG than any other display as LG has proven great performance since 1080p on Optimus LTE debuted with that resolution. I cannot wait to see performance and how TV, video (movies or VC conference apps perform).

This display is incredible! LG has pretty much ALWAYS been first with great displays and the first to deliver a 2.1MP front camera about 1.5yrs before anyone else got to that size! This display isn't about how it performs for a smartphone ... it's a showcase about going into TV's or Tablets and desktop 4HD Displays (pixels increasing in density as size increases, of course).

Don't hate on LG ... they've fought and improved in EVERY way in the past 3yrs and they deserve all their credit! I wait their first smartphone using a 64-bit cpu end of summer 2014.

Posted by cu015170
Its certainly a great piece of engineering in terms semiconducting .. The screen to bezel ratio is simply amazing. My guess is that if we are going to see a phone without bezel, it will most likely come from LG.

Its kind of sad that they went for such a small camera sensor.. other than that, if I was buying an andro flagship, this would be it.

Posted by cu015170
Also, I am yet to understand why they are pushing the PPI levels so high.. there's got to be a point of diminishing returns here. I always thought that anything over 300 PPI is more than enough for any smartphone usage case...
